Embassy Auto Wash? Wax safe?
Hey all,
I live in NoVa and now the temperature has dropped down so low that we've had to shut off the hose outside. So that means no more car washing for me at least until the spring. I managed to put a coat of NXT on the car right before we had to shut it off for good, and I just want to make sure that coat stays strong on the car since this is my daily driver.
Can I trust brushless car washes at gas stations? I just want to make sure that the soap they use is safe for the wax on the car and that it won't strip it. I know Embassy Auto Wash (http://www.embassyautowash.com/carwash.html) is real close to me in West Springfield and they're a pretty big place. Anyone have experience with them? Thanks!

Some of those places reuse the water. I would stay away from them. You can try the Quick and Easy Wash. If you have a RV store around you, they probally sell it also.

I’d stay away from any automatic washes. Best bet is doing it yourself carwash.
I’ve washed my cars in weather as cold as 10 degrees. I go to a wash that is semi-enclosed (has one door). I bundle up, layered clothing, close the one door, and wash! Of course, the trick drying it quick. Then I drive straight home and into my heated garage. There I do my detailing and vacuuming.
Good luck.
Well of course I'd love to wash it myself, but we had to shut the water lines that go outside that way the pipes wouldn't freeze and burst. That's why my only real choice is taking it to another car wash...
Why not try going to those self serve car washes where you pay to use their high pressure hoses? That's what I do because I live in an apartment and they also shut down the hoses at the car wash area. Sure you'll freeze your a$$ off, but it's better than going to an automatic wash and hoping your car won't be damaged from whatever chemicals they use...
That's what I figured marhot was talking about, but I didn't think those actually existed in the area. Do you know any in the Northern VA area? Should I search by "self serve car wash?" I'll see what I can google!
