Taking pictures of you Z?
Okay... I questions for the camera savvy... I have taken several pics of my new car with a digital camera. I think I did a decent job, but certainly feel I can get some better ones.
First question, will I have to get a 'real' camera (35mm) to get really sharp pics or can I do it with a high resolution digital?
Second, if I can use a good digital camera, are there special settings I need to consider for bright sunlight?
any help is appreciated... I've attached a pic from my sunny Saturday with the new Z. As you can see, it shows the color well, but the detail could be a little sharper...

Tips from a photographer.
1. Try to make sure that the sun is behind you & facing the subject (car)
2. I wouldn't want it to be too bright of a day or at least would wait till the sun comes down a little bit and use a flash as much.
3. Look for a function on the photo program that says sharpen on the pull down menu.
4. If your digital camera has an option for an external flash, get it & use it. I try to use a flash even in the daytime to fill in the shadowed area.
Maybe I will think of some more tips later..

Keep in mind that a good 35 mm camera will beat a typical digital in terms of sharpness any day. Now, if you compare a professional digital SLR (4-6 megapixels, also $2-5k) vs a cheapie point and shoot, the digital will obviously be better.
But, an average digital camera (2-3 megapixels, $300-500) in no way compares to a consumer SLR with a decent lens. Against a point and shoot, well, some P&S's have pretty good lenses, so it's a difficult comparison.
Check to make sure you're set on superfine resolution and at the largest picture setting you can get.
Of course, the benefits of digital are obvious and in the end, it's much cheaper.

Those bright neon green promo paper license plates advertise the mark-up King of Z's, Mr. Morris Sage at Universal City Nissan. Don't know how he has managed to drive around without plates for such a long time already. Cazz prob. has not had the chance to go down to the DMV.

Thanks for the tips, Cazzz! I actually had seen some of your pics on other threads and had them in mind when I was thinking my pictures were not coming out nearly as well.
I figured there would be noticeable difference because you are more experienced and have a 35mm, but I'm sure I can get better with the Canon digital I have. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow and Saturday so I'm going to try your recommendations and play with the camera settings a little.
Thanks again!

damn, what are you waxing with? cause DAMN. BLING BLING BABY!
as for quality, Im no expert I was told 35mm was somewhere around 3mp and these new advantix cameras are lower resolution.
I would show you some pictures I saw taken with a 3mp sony digi cam, but they are too big to fit here. they werent taken by me, but none the less, they were incredable. Im sure the pics cazzz posted arent even doing them justice, the size limit here is pretty small, and I personally can tell they are being shrunk a bit beyond their intended size, the picture gets a look to it. if they were larger I think they would be even better.
heres what I got with a 2mp camera, nothing special done(its a HP camera, no special setting, pretty much point and click digicam)
you can see the obvious differences.(also this is full size, almost half a meg
Youll notice resolution with 2mp is... less then stellar. but Im gonna try and take some 3mp this weekend after a good zaino session, make some nice wallpaper images.
