Default HELP! me find this squeek/rattle please (PIC)

Its coming from here (Highlighted in red)

It just started to happen last night. Its driven me nuts! I Just stripped the rear interior and hatch, I jacked both sides up and tried to tighten the rear struts they seem tight. I inspected the exhaust and suspension, banged around... nothing. I'm going to go for a ride now with everything off and see if it still does it.

I'll post back.

Good luck finding rattles. I had this rattle which I thought was coming from a very specific location on the dash which was driving me just crazy. Then my cousin one day just grabs the rear view mirror and it STOPPED! Remember that sound travels and bounces so that rattle might be coming from somewhere else.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Mine is a roadster but the squeek came from that general area (so I thought) but Nissan service guy popped the Woofer speaker cover, removed the speaker, replaced it and cinched down the screws holding it in and Viola! Squeek gone! Watching him get the plastic cover off made me glad I took it in instead of risking me breaking things and would have to pay out of pocket for the repairs. Also was done under warrenty. Hope this helps.

maximumsportZ, I've the same problem...I've 2.3k miles on my Z, and the cracking noise started at about 1.5k miles. It is so annoying, the noise can be heard at low speed, and when I'm making turns. Please keep me posted if you ever found out the cause of it.

I have the same noise coming from the back on mine as well. What is even more annoying though is on the dashboard where the red blinking light for the alarm is. That little circle around it gets lose and rattles like crazy. I know for a fact thats whats causing it buecase if i push down on it, it stops. I dont really know how i can tighten it though. The Z is a great car but it rattles me to the point i wish i was deaf. haha

That little circular housing for the security light rattles in my car too. There is another on the other side ( passenger) that rattles as well. I have never had a car that squeeks and rattles like my z.

I believe that the security light just pops out. I'll check the service manual...

I was having a similar rattle coming from the rear that bothered me so much I took my wife in the passenger seat and drove while she climbed over into the hatch and located my rattle. I thought at first it was the rear struts also. My rattle was a squeeking semi metalic sound. It ended up being the plastic cover on the rear hatch that surrrounds my rear window glass. As soon as my wife held this in place the noise subsided and hence I found the rattle. Check this out maybe it is yours also. The plastic trim that surrounds the rear window! Hope this helps

I have a similar rattle but its hard to seperate one rattle from all the rest. I like this car and all, but I don't want to own one after the warranty expires.
