Ahem... how about a 50 state certification? Us Californians like to upgrade our cars, too!

California can be so frustrating at times.

Ok, thats true, confussed it there, the S4 will come with the 4.2 V8, but it still would be nice for nissan to turbo the 350z, or even use a V8 for the skyline, i guess then it could compete with the RS6

According the FreshAlloy, the (unofficial) word is that you might be able to choose between a naturally aspirated V8 and a turbo V6 on the next-gen GTR. Here's the page where I read that info:
http://www.freshalloy.com/site/cars/...ept/home.shtml
Or perhaps that page just means that the car will have one or the other, and they just aren't sure yet.
As far as competing with the RS6, keep in mind that the RS6 is a completely different type of car. It's not really meant to be a sports car, but rather an autobahn-busting super-powerful, sport-sedan(wagon) cruiser. (Perhaps more akin to BMW's M5.) Don't get me wrong, it's a truly awesome car, but a very big and heavy one at that.
A quick search on the net showed that the RS6 weighs over 4000 pounds. (ouch!) It's tough to haul that sort of weight around a bunch of tight, twisty corners.
If you really want that fast sports car feel, I'm betting the next-gen GTR (or even the current 350z) will provide it much better than the RS6 regardless of horsepower. However, if you just want to get on the freeway and stomp on it and eat every car on the road for lunch (while hauling a bunch of stuff in the back, too!), then the RS6 might be hard to beat. I gotta say, I love the idea of a 450 hp station wagon.
Heck, I love my A4 wagon for that same reason, and it's only got 200 hp.
