Question Passport Nissan: Alexandria VA - Feathering

Has anyone gone to Passport Nissan in Alexandria for feathering? If so, how did they handle the situation? I'm heading in next week to have my 04.5 base w/ 12K miles checked for feathering...the noise is becoming very prevalent, and in checking the tires myself, I can feel the uneven tread wear.

Anyone go there with an 04 or 04.5 and have their tires replaced, or are they going to give the **** and bull answer of "that policy is for 03's only"? I'd like to go there armed to the teeth with as much documentation as I can. I feel they're going to dick me on this one...any strategies form those Z owners with a similar experience?

thanks for the help folks!

They aren't required to do anything. So I don't know what armor you can go in there with unless you have receipts showing that you have had your car aligned multiple times and have kept the tire pressure at optimum levels. Tires are wear items and therefore aren't covered under warranty most times. The dealer has no way of knowing if you ran the tires underinflated for 6,000 miles of the 12,000 or that you hit curbs and threw the car out of alignment. Unfortunetly, all you can do is take it in and hope for the best. Hopefully they will like to keep your business and try and help you.

I bought my 04 Z used with 6000 miles at the same dealer. I currently have 17000 miles and around 12000 was when they told me there was feathering on my tires. Passport Nissan in Alexandria/Scott Dunfee was my service advisor and he could not give me a set of new tires because it wasn't an 03' and plus I had over 12000 miles on my car.

Thanks for the info. So when they told you that you had feathering, what did they/you do? Did they adjust alignment, switch the tires...anything? I figure I won't get new tires because I just passed 12K and have an '04. I can tolerate the noise now, but the tread left is fine so I'll plan on keeping them, then upgrading wheels/tires in the summer. Thanks again all - I'll keep you posted.

They said I needed new tires so he was going to order them. I told him not to because there was like a 2 month wait for them. I was planning on doing the alignment when I got the tires but I still havent ordered them. =/ THe noise is killing me.

I have an 04 with over 13,000 miles.
I took my car to Victory Nissan in Richmond, VA 3 weeks ago for the tire feathering issue. The dealer replaced two front tires the next day without charge.

I got mine done at Browns Nissan in Arlington... no problems whatsoever. In fact it was a very pleasant experience

What's up guys? KJH176, you might post this in the mid-A regional forum. Might get more guys familiar with the dealership in there.

I think though that since you have an '04, unless the dealership is *exceptionally* cool, they aren't obligated to replace your tires. That answer totally sucks, but I think it's the truth. Sorry man.

You might take this as a chance to get aftermarket rims and some different tires. I've heard for alot of people, this in concert with a good alignment either eliminated or reduced the feathering problem. Take a peek around the wheels/tires/brakes forum for more info.
