I love the look and the expected performance of the car but I am having serious reservations about buying one this year. The listed problems are numerous and in some cases serious, such as major transmission problems that don't seem limited to just the first run cars. There has been mixed reviews of Nissan's handling of this as well. My point is that wouldn't it be prudent to wait till '04 when all the bugs have been worked out? The price will certainly be lower as well once 30,000 03's are rolling around and the g35c's will be competeing for sales as well.
It's the same with every new model, there will be problems. So far they are getting fixed. It just takes time for NNA to evaluate and determine if it's truly a major issues with all vehicles.
Sure the glitches will be worked out by the '04 model. If you want to wait so be it. Don't expect the prices to go down though The G35C isn't going to take away that much business.

I agree, historically prices should go up........many things to consider. the economy for one..the old price and demand thing u know......I personally have not experienced many problems..and it is a running list of alot of Z owners who are the most demanding consumers, myself being a perfectionist Z owner also
Great value for the money any way you cut it

vin 1500, and unless I dont know it the only problem I have is bose stereo, which is going in today to be checked and the fix ordered.
other than that... Im perfectly happy.
but thats ok, cause it may be smart to wait till next year anyway. always is, its just a matter of how much you want the car.

I don't think there are as many problems as there seems to be. The fact that it's such a completely new car only means that everyone has to get comfortable and familiar with it, not that there are major problems to deal with.
For example, many, many other new cars come out with potential alignment issues (like the '03 Cobra) and are worked out. Many times, this is caused during shipping and transport, and is easy as a quick adjustment.
My point is, there will always be things that come up with a new car, and they are usually all curable. What you're seeing is everyone trying to get comfortable, and this means that little problems get big attention early on in the process.

maybe part of it is this forum, problems get talked about more often than the good. You just have to look and see that there is a problems list right at the beginning of the topic list. I know it's not a porsche but for 30g's i want to be sure it's a solid car, or i would just buy a mustang.
Oh is someone having problems with their Z.
I have no problems, there are lots of people here who have never complained about problems. I haven't heard VQ mention any problems. Dr. Bonz's only problem is with the zaino addiction.
I would have to say my Z even being the first year model has had far fewer problems than any other brand new car I've ever purchased. I'd put it right up there with my 77 Jeep CJ5 which only had one problem when I drove it through mud up to the top of the hood. Then they had to clean out the clutch linkage.
Now I did experience frozen windows one morning but I guess that would be mother natures problem not the Z's.

if you can wait, wait. probably the most prudent thing in terms of bugs and negotiating off msrp (based on the number of Z's that they want to sell, i think they will have to negotiate once the initial demand is satiated)
for me, it wasnt worth waiting. the car isnt a high priced vehicle so it's not something i want to plan for a year ahead...plus, who knows what will be out in a year.
also, i dont think of the Z as a completely new vehicle. most of the components are shared with other models so they have had some testing. i dont know about the tranny as i have an auto but the engine should be fairly solid...it's just a hotrodded version of the VQ series...which is used from the altima to the pathfinder.
btw, the 350Z was voted as the 2nd coolest car to own in the Atlanta Journal. mini came in first
