They have a list of State Regulations on their Front Page. Im pretty sure they are legal in most all states.

Give them a Call and Ask, Or i would visit the NY DOT Website. Some states have Mandatory Chain Usage.

Got the Chains in, Work Very Well.

Install is a bit rough out in the cold. Just throw the Chains over the rear tire and Loosly Hook them together on the bottom. They Roll a bit and Tighten. Viola.

Dont bother getting the 'Installation Helper Tool" Its worthless.

Why would they not be legal? They work great and they're easy to take on and off.

It Definatly Depends on the State you are in.

But, If it is Really Bad out and you have to go somewhere, I Think it would be worth a chance at a "Fix It" Ticket. Luckily they are legal here in WV. Being low profile, I think they would be really hard to notice.

costco.com sells "GoClaws". They appear to be less likely to damage your rims and tires, and may be legal in places where metal chains are not allowed.

I've never tried them though.
