at what mileage did you guys switch to synthetic oil? I have heard anywhere from 3000 miles to over 10000 miles.

Who told you this?? While the AT fluid has a specific Nissan requirement, nothing could be further from the truth on 6MT Zs.
As long as the fluid meets API specs, you can use whatever you want without voiding your warranty. If Nissan forces you to use their fluid only, they have to supply it for free during the warranty period.

The best move you could make for a manual trans is to change to Amsoil. My shifting has improved significantly- no more motchy feel.

Royal Purple is definately the way to go. It has been dyno proven to free up some extra hp as well. Check it out at www.royalpurple.com

Amsoil does not make 75W-85 GL-4 Tranny fluid.

If Amsoil was available (the only had 3qts left) I would have bought that, but I went with Mobil 1 Synthetic.. All of the PURE synthetics are pretty much the same, but I feel that Amsoil makes the best.

I switched to Mobil 1 at 3500 miles. Noticed an improvement right away.

Yah ditto.. This was my first oil change, and I noticed that things were a bit smoother sounding. It was not as "raspy" when I revved. But I didn't notice any power gained from an oil change..

Both of these lubes meet the API service requirements specified by Nissan for the manual tranny:
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/agl.aspx
https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/fgr.aspx

and both can also be used in the rear diff. with no mixing and no additives.

I did research to see which oil to use and i found a lot of result that AMSOIL seem to be the best in the market. Here is the link and see it yourself. Mobil 1 is the best to marketed, not best in Sythnetic oil.

IMHO I really think think that Redline, Motul, Amsoil, and Royal Purple are the best. Engine runs much smoother with these oils and they seem to have the best test results. Mobil 1 seems to be popular for price and that they are readily available almost at any retailer. I would still rather go with the former, those oils work best.

beware of castor based synthetics like Silkolene's Castorene and Motul... these are castor/ester blends.

castor based synthetics are "all or nothing" synthetics. remember a long time ago the old myth of "once you go synthetic, you can't go back"? and of course we all knew this to be BS...

it's BS with ester based synthetics, like the majority of synthetics on the market today.

but IT IS TRUE about castor based synthetics. once you use a castor based synthetic, you cannot go back to conventional oil.
