My Opinion on Orange Peel
For the records, I don't own a Z, but I will be purchasing one in the near future, but the orange peel that I have seen on the 350Z is not as bad as the other new cars that I have seen. I saw several clean BMW's yesterday that were far more worse than the Z and I see no reason why everyone gets upset or complains. I don't know if anyone has ever thought of this, but its obviously has something to do with maybe the primer and the distance at which the paint was sprayed, but if you take into consideration that if you have a perfectly smoothe surface from the top to the bottom then, if a rock chip hits the paint and it does chip the paint, then it is more likely to slide and chip more, however if the paint has edges or bubble shapes as in the orange peel, then the less chances of the rock sliding and causing larger chips. This is only a theory and if you disagree, then thats fine, because I dont think research has ever been done to find out if this really does happen
. Further conclusion is that Nissan's paint jobs now are far more detailed than chevy and ford, but every car can't be perfect, because if every car was perfect, then no one would get a Z on time, because they would be repainting them till they were smoothe as glass....

For some reason its pretty bad on some colors. I believe the red is the worst. I saw a red one at the dealer last week that just came in OMG i thought i was a t a fruit market! My Z better not look like that. honestly a little peel isnt bad cuz most cars have it. BUT OMGGGG it was on the both sides of the doors from the body line down. and on the front quarter panels. BOTH of them. For some reason the hood was perfect and when I say perfect I mean glass like go figure
