Default snowing in NJ

I dont' who is getting snow like we are but why the hell are you driving you Z in the snow. I saw a Z on a curb today and also on TV, the NJ TKPK, somebody in a red Z had a nice meeting with the wall. Anybody else see people drving Z's in the snow?

I agree with you; But not everyone can afford to have two cars. For some people the Z is their only car. Personally if I could not afford a 2nd daily dirver, I would never purchase a Z unless I lived in a state where there is no snow. The Z as your only car in NorthEast simply is not practical comes winter.

If/when I get the Z, I'm getting a cheap truck for a winter beater.

I can afford a second car but I don't want one. They are called snow tires and they do work quite well. (Just not in a blizzard).

Good for you guys who are out there in the Winter!! I wish I could relax and use my car more than I do. I guess a little vandalism didn't help!!

I too saw a guy out in NJ at about the time I was driving my truck home to hide from the storm. It was about noon on Saturday and I kept thinking he must have gotten caught away from home.

So will the snow tires make it safer to drive around in the conditions often experienced up north?

I live in Oklahoma, but I'm up in Cleveland on business. I am going to be here for several months, and not having experienced this before I made the idiotic mistake of leaving on my normal tires. I'm in desperate need of winter tires, but if it's not going to help significantly...

Thanks all.

I drove today with my Z in the Blizzard... I have Blizzak's which help significantly.. The car can't be driven in 10 inches of snow but handed the few inches left over from plowing perfectly fine.

A Z with snow tires = FWD car with all season tires.

Z with stock summer tires = death-wish

When I purchased my Z back in 02 of Nov. I learned a lesson that winter when I got stuck in 6inches of snow that one day. Thats when I purchased A/S Michelins. Good traction in a few inches of snow. But since the Z sits low not good if the streets are not plowed. I got a second car for daily driving. Piece of mind no worries where I park it especially when going out somewhere.

Default SNOW TIRES SOLVES YOUR Z IN SNOW AND ICE ISSUE

I think we all should thank ZpikeZ for the great idea "snow tires" I guess driving the Z in the winter on snow and ice is no longer and issue because SNOW TIRES are the answer. I'll just take my truck back and buy some snow tires for the winter. Thanks man.

I sense sarcasm in your post.

You'd be amazed on how many people still drive on the stock tires in the snow. For each post about Z's in the winter, you will see dozens of people ask questions about if they should buy a set of snows ... even in this post (not to pick on ChadO). My co-worker traded in his Z because he got stuck 5 times on snowbanks and had to get towed each time. He didn't have snow tires, obviously. That is why it is my job, as a longtime member of my350z.com, to make public service announcements that snow tires are a must. So to answer your question, "twentyinrims", or "blingblingboy", or "ghettoZdriver", or whatever, yes you should trade in your truck and buy snows and save thousands of thousands of dollars ... it's a $26,000 Nissan, not a $260,000 Ferrari. Go drive it.

And one more for good measure ...
