Default Any '04 tranny changed?

Guys,

Any '04 owners have their tranny replaced?

Sometimes I get this "teeth" hitting as I shift to 3rd gear. Doesn't happen all the time. If i shift from 2nd to3rd and do it slowly (more like a split second pause in netural), it will be okay.

But if I shift from 2nd to 3rd straight, the "teeth" grind occurs once in a while.

I have been driving manuals for 14 years (4th manual cars).

When my car was in for an oil change at 3k mile, I mentioned to Perf. Nissan. The tech told me I have to have my manual break in (wtf). Now I have almost 12k miles.

Btw, my built day is Feb '04

Sounds like somebody was pulling your chain. I have an 04 track trans replaced at 5800 miles! Will Not Go In Second Gear! Plus third would grind! They new this was a problem because my car is Vortech supercharged and they still changed my trans. Good-luck. Just goes to show you that some dealers are better than others.

my 04.5 trans was replaced earlier this month. It was changed at 10000 mi. It took me about 3 months of putting up with second gear grinding to finally find a dealer who would replace it under warrenty.

What was your built date?

FAIRLADY350Z,

My '04 has a build date of Jan. 2004. No grinding in any gear, and I've had the Z since March 2004.

NismoChick,

You are not paranoid. I am just worried that once my warranty runs out, the tranny goes dead (hehe).

I had an acura legend (5speed) in my college days. The 5th gear (highway) went bad. Costs me $1700 bucks. I was broke that time.
