King Tut,
Think about it this way.....If you saw this same exact VW ad on TV...or if your wife/GF did (or God Forbid, children saw such an ad)....Would that make you more inclined to buy a VW Polo??
What if this aired during the Superbowl next week on National TV....Can you imagine the impact it would have for VW here in the states?? People would be trading in their VW's by the DROVES....Prospective Buyers would look elsewhere....VW Dealers would go out of business.
VW doesn't have the ***** to air this in the USA...that's for damn sure.
I'm in Pharmaceutical Sales (and have a fair amount of knowledge on marketing) and have a pretty good handle on consumer buying behavior...What turns people on or off about products, so to speak (And BTW, Yes I do think next week's pharmaceutical advertising during the Superbowl for Cialis for male erectile dysfunction is HIGHLY inappropriate - It's supposed to be extremely suggestive from what I've heard. However, I can't argue the marketing reasons for doing so.....99% of all males will be watching the Superbowl.....That's one hell of a captive audience!!).

VW won't show it in the US because it knows that our country is way too worried about political correctness. Whereas people in Europe are less politcally correct and can get past the PC and see the commercial for what it is, a funny commercial to make you think about the Polo. Some of us aren't as PC and can enjoy the commercial others can't. I don't see a difference between it and the GTI falling out of the tree after being stuck and the guy throwing his shoe at it a couple Super Bowls back. Both had a great surprise at the end and made me laugh.

I'm just glad this kind of stupidity hasn't been associated with Nissan.....I would expect such heartlessness from Germany, however.....I once worked for a German company (Bayer) and it was a truly appalling experience.
Here's an interesting contradiction....I love Porsches and Audis, and would buy them, but I would NEVER travel to Germany...Just the thought of traveling to a country where they had concentration camps (and still have them in place as memorials) sickens me to no end.......

PC or not I think its Fukcing hilarious! If you read some of the blogs there is talk that VW didn't make this ad. Come on you really think that a multi billion dollar company would risk something like this. Still I loved it!

... loved it.
