This is still so random I would blame the individual(s) assembling it at the factory.
They should track the VINs on these cars with the tranny issues and see where and when and by who assembled it.

It's been a number of complaints over the transmission issues! I would like to know, how many are there that are manual and automatic that had their trannys replaced! I think that would give us some idea, if it's more nissan or driver! Lets hear it.

My fuzzy math logic would say about 2% of all MT have some sort of grind problem.
1. The internet forums would reflect more of the negative problems of the Z rather than smooth operation of the vehicle.
2. If there are 30,000 Z's sold per year, 2003 - 2005, you figure there is about ~ 60,000 - 90,000 Z's running around. So you would figure about 1,200 - 1800 Z's have grind problems. You can bet out of that many people, they will post something in regards of the gear grind.
3. Okay I'm ready to be shot down with my fuzzy math now.

I'm surprised that your 05 Z has tranny problems. I thought Nissan fixed it by now. Maybe your stuck with a lemon tranny that was made from the problematic assembly line?

well i'm having my gauge pod replaced also b/c the odometer LCD was bleeding over in the numbers too. i can't have the car b/c when they order the new one, it is programed with the milage when tey ship it. so i can't be driving the car around while the milage stays the same. that would be fraud. lol. it started grinding what seemed like the second week i had it. i dunno.
