Default Converting 350z to AWD

So I was curious and maybe even somewhat considering trying to convert my 350z to AWD.

I know many parts from the G35x could be used, does anyone know exactly what parts I would need and if this is possible while retaining the 6 speed tranny

This is what I got so far I would need:

G35X Upper Oil Pan
G35X Front Crossmember and Motor Mounts
G35X Front Spindles
G35X Front Axles
G35X Front Transfer Case

I guess what I need to figure out is how to fabricate the VQ 6 Speed to accept a front driveshaft to spin the front axles.....hmmm

I think having all wheel drive would be sweet, or how about if i had it fabricated so I could switch between all wheel and rwd, all wheel in the winter, rw in the summer, i realize adding ~200lbs is gonna slow down the car a few tenths in the quarter mile but I think iw would be worth it

While you are at it you could fabricate some wings and make it fly too.

I think it's a great idea! Keep us updated - despite negative comments. If you went through with this and accomplish it, I garantee people will jump on the idea!

Keep tabs on costs and such! I'm interrested! Would you make up for the 200lbs on the launch? - Being able to drop the clutch at a higher RPM/ Brake torque higher?

No offense but in my eyes it would be pointless. Given that Nissan engineered the car to have such great handeling with a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution. By adding 200 pounds or more to the front of the car would screw that up so much that even having AWD wouldn't conpensate for such a change. Though being able to say "I have a 350Z AWD" would be pretty cool.
My suggestion use the money and go forced induction. Just my 2 cents.

"Civilizations are built by unsatisfied people." I like the idea about switching from AWD to RWD. God speed and keep us informed.

I'd be more interested if it was a twin turbo V8.

AWD....mmmmmm......badass. You should definately do it. You could launch at such a high rpm that you would make up the for the added weight in straight line speed, and in the twistys, throwing off the weight balence will be made up with all-wheel-drive traction, not to mention something that a little suspension update won't fix. Also, if you are worried about the added weight so much, just about everything in the front of the Z(fenders, front bumper, hood, ect.) can be bought in carbon fiber so you can reduce weight.

Or for the amount you're going to spend to be just as fast as a stock Evo or STi, you could get yourself both a STi and an Evo.

Motor transplants and twin turbos have already been done. I want to see an AWD 350Z.

I suppose the extra 200 lbs in the front would be somewhat off set by the extra 100lbs in the back full of stereo equipment

I really just need to figure out a way to fab a front driveshaft to the 6 speed tranny.......maybe i should hit up monster garage?

On a side note a 4.5l motor swap would be pretty sweet, anybody know if the VQ45 bolts up to out tranny?
