i too am wondering about this. i have a track day coming up on March 11th. i have a video camera and it has a screw place in the bottom for a tripod. i was wondering if there is something that i can conjure up to mount on the strut bar or somewhere on the vehicle that will allow me to mount it. anyone have any suggestions? (free solutions would be nice, maybe a home remedy, something i can make from household or near household items?)

GET A try pod and make sure all the legs of it compress down so it is short. then just set it in the back infront of the sway bar and stuff pillows and blankets around the legs to make sure it doen't move. might take some tinkering to do right but i did it once and it worked perifictly. just dont be afraind to use tons of pillows and blankets torealy keep it in place. im sure there are other ways to sucure it in but thats how i did it. i was able to realy throw the car around and it didnt move a bit but it was a relivily small camera.(cannon elura 1998 modle)

Default Hi kelvin1704

Look upcruisecam.com they have all kinds of camera mounts for interior or exterior cameras. I use the headrest mount for my video camera for documenting all my canyon runs with my Z. Have fun.

there are also mini, spy-type mikes and camera devices that you can run thru your video camera, and you can mount them anywhere in your car very easily. They are pretty cheap, too. do a search for mini camera or spy camera.

you can easily make a bracket for the camera. for autoxing we made a bracket that attaches to the passenger headrest. works perfect

extra cheap...

get a 12" length of 1" PVC. remove headrest and line up the headrest rods to the PVC at desired location (extra length of PVC towards middle of car). mark locations on PVC. drill with either a slightly smaller bit than diameter of headrest rods, or space the holes slightly wider or narrower than headrest rods to obtain a friction grip.

slide PVC onto headrest, reinstall headrest onto seat.

buy a cheap tripod, disassemble camera mount assembly, attach to PVC tube.

perfect mid-cockpit mount for under $20.

i did the same thing as drift350, only with a 1" diameter aluminum tube about 14" long. only difference is that i used a clamping camera mount. works great. total cost like $20. good luck.

Just do what these last 2 guys said, but instead of a camera mounting bracket, just drill a hole through the pipe where you want the camera, and use a screw to go through the pipe and into the tripod mounting hole. I am sure you can find a screw that fits perfectly into the tripod mounting hole.

I use a suction cup mount from ChaseCam.com. I love it. I have put it on the back window pointing through the seats and on the very top corner of the windshield on the passenger side. With the windows down, you can only hear the wind when you mount it on the back window, but you can really hear the engine when you mount it on the windshield. You can also use the suction cup mount to mount it to the outside of the car to get some good shots there, but wind would be a factor there as well. I wouldn't worry about it falling off, but just to be safe, they sell a teather as well. That is the suction cup mount stuck on a window with a 75 lb. weight hanging from it.
