Default Whose bought a car in California

Hey All,

I'm thinking of going to California to buy my car (cheaper), but i'm from out of state. How does titling/sales tax work? If i purchase the car with the intent of registering it in a different state (new), would i end up paying sales tax twice????

Why would you think it's cheaper in California? Every Z I've seen on the showroom floor has $10K markup. Of course, I'm sure you can haggle down the price. If anything, I would think that there are more people here that would be willing to buy above MSRP just to have one right when they want it.

Your tax should be paid in the state you register the vehicle. At least that's how it works when you buy out of state and bring it into Calif.
