Question Front Cup Holder

Searched the forums, but has anyone tried removing/replacing the retractable cup holder before? And if so, was it difficult?

I have not, just wondering why you would want to do that. I love that cup holder, its in the perfect spot and it never spills my drinks. Unlike the awesome "cup holders" in my old ITR.

Actually my cup holder broke so I just ordered a replacement. Wondering if it's possible to do the install myself instead of going to a dealer.

not when you tried to hold a 10lb dumbelll on it
seriously that cupholder is so fragile. Sometime i feel it can't even hold a Starbuck's grande.

The front cupholder is very simple to R&R - extend cupholder, then take a thin standard screwdriver and place it along the groove on top, slide it toward the rear of the holder, and then press it down to hit the release clip & slide it out. Actually, on Technosquare's website there is a great pic of this in their "removing the ECU" directions. Hope this helps...... www.technosquareinc.com

explortainment - That's a good question??? I'd suggest taking it to the dealer & let them figure it. Was going to suggest maybe going from the back side of the lower dash cover, but can't take it off without removing a bolt inside the cupholder space. Not much help, but that's all I can think of right now.... Besides taking a tape-lined screwdriver & try to pry it out from the bottom front of the cupholder...get it out enough to break off the front cover then get the rest out.....crazy!!!
