350Z production statistics...
Okay, A post in another thread prompted me to update a spreadsheet I have based on the data Scafremon has on his website.
If the preorder figure of 7811 is correct (and I assume it is since it came from ZISME), then the scafremon table accounts for about 4% of pre-production cars, a pretty good sampling of data.
Oh, and before I get flamed for not having a life, my job involved analysis and project work. When I'm between projects, I'm mostly bored. Since I cannot just go out a drive my Z while working, I did this.
In any case, there are just some fun facts based on a 4% sampling...
Percentage by model...
No big surprise here, I think. More touring models than anything else...
Percentage by color
Wow! Silver colors account for 55% of production! Big surprises to me... Daytona Blue ranking in at third and Super Black tied at 4. Figured Super Black would be the #3 color. also thought Redline would rank higher...
Fun facts by color and model...
Finally, some data by state...
That's enough for now to give y'all something to chat about.
To get actual numbers instead of percentages, multiply the percentage given by 293, that was the sample number...
or by 7811, the number given by Nissan as pre-order total...
or by 30,000, the suggested target for first year production.
If the preorder figure of 7811 is correct (and I assume it is since it came from ZISME), then the scafremon table accounts for about 4% of pre-production cars, a pretty good sampling of data.

Nice work, Andy. I don't know if you've seen, but I created a 350Z pre-order survey that has all these kinds of stats and more: http://www.brackethead.com/350zsurvey. About 400 people have registered their orders.
Great minds think alike, huh?

Interesting that CS was low on the Track models. Is Nissan Canada brilliant or what. The track is not even offered in CS in Canada. How did they know that it wouldnt be a big seller???

Hmm... what great mind is thinking alike with you ???
Took a quick look at your site... nice work. Going to see if I can draw comparisons to my spreadsheet and learn anything new...

Probably no... according the data on scafremon's website, only 51.2% of pre-orders who are in the VIN Soup have actually taken delivery. Now, I'd give this a larger margin of error than other measures because some may have not updated their info... forgot... left the website... too busy driving their Z.
Regardless, if this number is within 20% margin of error, that's still over 1/4 of preorders to be delivered. Hate to say it, but I bet some will be waiting into December.

Dem crazy Canucks... they apparently have Z-cognition!

How about this for ya... Silverstone Touring models accounted for 13.3% of cars in the sample! The only larger number of a single model and color was Chrome Silver Touring at 15.0% or 44 cars out of 293. Sorry, no stats on the Burnt Orange leather...
Finally, for SandMan, the number of Silverstone Track models is second only to the DB... there should be about 2 DB Tracks for every Silverstone Track.

and by the looks of the VIN #'s, were at about 5000 cars made and its november. But the end of this months, all pre-orders should be delivered...NO?

This corresponds to what I've seen....VIN 6100 was at a local dealership last week. One can only wonder what the figures would be if not for the dock lockout/slowdown.
Redline has the oldest average age than any other color (42). Super Black has the youngest (32). I mentioned the redline is for old farts figure in another thread and caught a little heat, but now I have a link to the survey I feel vindicated. Any speculation on this bit of trivia?
Could just be the small size of the redline sample.

For what it's worth, I preordered a PPW Track. It was supposed to have been here the 2nd week of December, but my dealer claims that due to the dockworker lockout gig it may not be until January.
