Default cloth seats vs. leather seats

Besides the seating material, are there any other differences between the cloth and leather seats? I prefer cloth seats and just wanted to make sure the seats are the same.

Default carbon firber great

I wanted the burnt orange in my silverstone till I learned I had to pay for the 6 speed . Ridiculous! Glad I got the black. They look so much better . The leather is faced too , not fully covered leather anyway . Besides , you don't slide at all like you may on some leather surfaces in some sports cars . Better handling with the cloth .

Default just kidding

My warm leather smelling butt says.. Fah... fah fah.... J/K

I love the leather seats and how they smell all smokey and warm.... and for leather I dont slide as much as I thought I would...

I have also driven a Z with black cloth seats and I like them too... So.. Seats are great either way

Default same

same padding as a leather seat. But I think the cloth has a little more stick to it. Leather is probably more durable and much easier to get dog hair off of. Believe me, I know.

Yeah, leather is niiiiice

Cloth seats smell "funny". I drove a track & that was the first thing I noticed about them, haha. They sure were comfortable. I love em.

I had leather on my previous car, so had to get leather for this car as well. Anyways the Burnt orange contrast really nice with the ss.

I had leather in my prior car also, and that was one of the reasons I opted for the Performance model with cloth seats instead.

I've noticed in other cars, if you like road course style driving, you slide a bit on leather... though, the Z seats probably don't do this because they are so form fitting.

Matter of taste I guess... I think my cloth seats are quite comfy and when it gets hot next summer here (in the south), I won't have to worry about sitting on hot leather...

Just make sure you clip the dog's nails so they don't go poking through the leather. I learned that the hard way a long time ago... lol

the Z seats follow the contours of the body, and there is extra padding in the middle of the driver's seat to prevent sliding.

I'd get leather.

Out of curiosity, why is that ridiculous? $1500 (or was it $1700?) for 6mt, all performance options, and 18" rims (with pressure sensors)? Sounds like an incredible deal to me? Options aren't free.

Wasn't there a thread where some guy was saying that this cloth seats where fraying? Nissan was gonna repair it but it's still a hassle.

Default Ridiculous

The ridiculous part was not the package , worth it , but the fact that Nissan would only give you the package ( including the leather ) with an automatic . You then had to buy the 6M for an extra charge . I know the model was the " Yuppie Version " but give me a break ! Have to buy a standard transmission ? I wonder how many others caught that one .

No, you're missing the point. When you add an MT to the touring you also get 18 inch wheels and the automatic tire pressure gauge. While I don't think the touring MT is a great deal, I think Nissan is charging about what the 18 inch wheels cost. But what do I care .... I LOVE my enthusiast.

I ordered the Touring w/AT and got leather, Bose and 17" wheels and tires. If you buy the 6MT, you get 4 18 x 8" wheels and tires and VDC, which is not available on the AT. For $1590, you got a bargain. I did not want 6MT or 18" wheels, tires or VDC and I got a bargain. You need to go to NissanDriven.com and compare pkgs, you did not get screwed for $1590, you got more than the 6MT for your $1590.

Leather is definitely an added bonus. It's not like that cheap leather they put in the new altima's but quality leather. Also, I love entering my Z to the fresh smell of leather! MMMMMmm Ahhhhh! I love my Z!

real quick, I understand people saying you slide around in leather, I thought the same thing, but I believe most of you are thinking of the typical leather seats in your old lincoln and whatnot.

the Z has high side bolsters and the padding in the middle, you DO NOT slide around at all, these hold you in VERY tightly.

if you want to feel what Im talking about but cant get your hands on a Z to sit in, go to acura and try out a RSX-S. Very similair seating, leather, but it holds you right where you should be.

if you had to rely on your clothing to hold you to the seat, they your cloths would be pulling every which way which would become uncomforable, specificly for your upper body where you dont have as much friction. its the side bolsters that hold you in place even for cloth.

I like cloth better, for its color, look, and feel. It's not really black since it's got a hint of purplish-red to it. I also like the 17" wheels, so it made getting an Enthusiast a no-brainer for me.

I totally agree ares, the leather on the Z is more so hard leather. It's not like the plush leather that you find on luxury cars, hence sport car. I have sat and drove in both leather and cloth Z's and I am definitely glad that I opted with the leather.
