Default G35

I have seen both up close and personal at the NY auto show. IMHO the G35 is a 350Z wannabe. It has similar styling and HP, but it has a back seat and an ugly trunk that can't hold much.
The lines are boxier and the car is more squat. The pics make it look much better than in person while the opposite is true of the 350Z.
The Zcar is very aggressive looking. It commands attention which could be verified by the crowds surrounding it in comparison to the G35. I couldn't take my eyes off the Zcar not so of the G35.
One man's opinion

I personally think the styling of the G35 is really nice. The Z and the G marketed to different people, and I can see how the G will appeal as much as the Z would, to appropriate people.

However, I just don't see the need in my life to add little luxurious touches and a back seat for the loss of performance.

Back seats are for wimps!

Both will be awesome cars...but the 350 is going to be BAD.

I'm sure you'd be happy with either...it really depends on what your needs are. Have to have a backseat? Problem solved. Interested more in turning heads? Gotta have the Z then. What are your priorities? If your really on the fence, I think you should go with the Z...if you got a G35 and saw a Z you may be kicking yourself...I don't think it will be as bad the other way around...

It will all come down to a each person's priorities in car shopping. The true enthusiast will buy the Z. The yuppie or the luxury and passenger concerned people will buy the G35 coupe. I hope that the G35 coupe isn't as shabby quality and sportscar-feel wise as the G35 sedan. I haven't driven many worse sports sedans that that one.

Default Better trade the cello for a fiddle...

... if you buy the Z. I don't see anyway you would be able to get a 4' cello in the cargo area of the Z. Maybe front-passenger seat.

Unhappy i guess i could go with a fiddle

i've never seen the 350z trunk area in person, and my cello fits with room to spare in my rsx, so i figured it couldn't be THAT much of a difference could it...but oh well. i guess i'll be driving my mom's van to the concerts...what a shame...

Where there's a will there's a way. j/k. Who knows. Make Nissan sign an agreement that you get your deposit back if your cello won't fit, lol.

Yes the Z will have MORE power, LESS weight.

Do the math, and you'll figure that the Z will kick the G35's tail any day...

Default G35 Coupe also has...

Sunroof. I think sunroof would be a great option to add to our 350Z if available. Think about on sunny day, while crusing on the street, open up your sunroof, and turn on your favorite music..Man it is great...

Oh well.

I do agree that the G35 coupe seems to be a 350Z wanna be. It's nice if you'd really like to get a Z but the wife will not let you However, if you are a Z person the decision is very VERY easy to make. If I ever need a back seat I'll be getting a rentle car for the day... The Z is the car of choice.

If you are sitting on the fence you'll fall off when you see the Z and you're stuck in the G.

Who needs a backseat. Thats why you make friends with people that have sedans.

IMHO the G35 coupe is going to be substantially more than the Z. My guess is that the coupe will list at just under 30K, but to drive it home will be substantially over $35K. My enthusiast comes in right at $30K. Now $5k may not be much to you -- and it not even much to me -- but it is a LOT to my wife. CAN'T WAIT FOR MY FRIGGEN Z.

Who needs to ride around with a bunch of back seat drivers anyway? 95% of the time I'm in my car all alone with my cd's pumpin' out the sounds that I like to hear. Maybe if I'd never seen the 350Z I could appreciate the G35 a bit more. Once the Z was put on the table my plate was full
