Door Lock Question.
Is there any way to make the passenger door unlock with the drivers door, without having to push the button twice? Sometimes I have to press the remote 3-4 times to get it open...or I forget and go through the frustration of trying to open a locked door. This is the my most dislliked function on the Z.
What could be easier than pushing the button twice?
Your alternatives are:
1) Open the door and press the unlock button.
2) Stick the key in the door and turn it twice (once unlocks the drivers door, the second turn unlocks the passenger).

Jim,
One more thing. Pushing the button twice is not like double clicking a mouse. You don't need to do it that fast. The manual states that you have five seconds after the first push to do the second one. Make sure you do two nice slow pushes. I unlock and open my passenger door every morning and have never had a problem with the FOB not working right.

I'm sure there is a way to do it. On my last car (2000 Fbody) there were two wires off the BCM located behind the passenger kick panel that you jumped and it would make both doors open with one push. Just not sure which ones they are on a Z.
Here's a question....Why don't the doors of the Z lock automatically, once you (or you and your passenger) are inside and the car is in motion??
I think it's unsafe for the doors to remain unlocked after you climb in, turn the key and drive off...
Hell....Most $15-20K American Sedans have an autolock feature!

C'mon dude...gimme a break...I DO lock the doors, but for SAFETY reasons and the fact that your passenger MIGHT forget to lock his/her door, it just seems to make sense.
Imagine THIS scenario (I'll preface this by saying I have NO children and none will ever ride in my Z):
You and your 10 year old son are riding in your Z. It's EARLY in the morning and haven't had coffee yet....so, you accidentally forget to lock the doors (Don't tell me you NEVER forget!)
You are driving 60 MPH down a highway and the kid plays with the door latch, accidentally opening the door....A car in the right lane smashes into your open passenger door and perhaps kills your kid in the resulting accident.
Not trying to be extreme here.....I just want you to fully realize some of the things that COULD happen!

There is a module in the works that will take care of the auto locking and unlocking of the doors. It is being make by KPTechnologies, the group that already makes the remote-window up module as well as the VDC off module.

I'm curious. If the driver's door is open and you lock it, what happens if you close it? Does it stay locked or become unlocked? (some cars become unlocked so that you don't accidentily lock your keys inside your car...you have to lock the car by turning the key from the outside)

It's like requiring motorcyclists to wear helmets -- or maybe having a robotic arm that puts it on for you (wouldn't that be something). If you don't want to wear a helmet, fine. Deal with the consequences.
If an automaker wants to put the autolock feature on a car, bully for them. I just wouldn't get exercised because another one doesn't.
