Haven't had any problems in my car and I have done plenty of launches. What kind of tires do you have?

From what I have heard you should never "warm up" street tires. no reason to.

And whats that got to do with wheel hop?

Not really. If they have street Drag Radials, then they should do a burn out; however, even with street tires, a quick burn out can clear off debris and small rocks lodged in the tires. This can provide slightly better traction at the line.

Why shouldnt you warm-up street tires? some street tires sticks better when hot. SP8000, AVS, P7000.... after the burn out, those tires gets softer, some even sticks more because of the melted rubber on the tires surface. Therefore, it gets better traction. Same as lower the tire pressure by letting some air out, sometimes when the tires too bulky, it loses traction. Some dragsters even put sandbags in the trunk to increase the weight for traction..but thats if you have lots of power to hold.
