Question Re 040's

Does anyone know if the RE 040's are a special type of tire for OEM production. I can't find this style on any of the websites, Tirerack, Bridgestone, etc.. I suspect it is an offshoot of the RE 940's but I'm looking for some guideance here. All of you experts .... HELP.

Cool Re Bridgestone RE 040's

Check out the Tirerack surveys: they report the RE 040 as a pretty mediocre tire, ranking somewhere in the bottom third or bottom quarter of the max performance tires. Top ranking--the Bridgestone S03 Pole Position. Wish we were getting those, instead of the RE 040's!

i think its a OEM tire. i think its used on some audis and the bmw z8 even. and i know that the sc430 uses the 040 but they are also run flat tires. i believe tire rack sells them.
