Default Do you speed ?

In several threads on this board, I’ve read threads of speeding, and speeders who get tickets, and there are some posters who will chime in with a comment about how the person is an idiot for speeding, or how they deserve the ticket. This has me wondering, how may of you can honestly tell me that you don’t speed? I’m sorry, but you didn’t buy a Nissan 350Z to drive it the speed limit. The appeal of our cars is that they look good and go fast. Speeding to excess is one thing, but to imply you don’t speed at all, and think speeding is wrong is comical at best. Who on this board can honestly say they don’t speed?

who doesn't speed? The majority of the drivers on the road do 5-15 over the limit anyways.

If I didn't want to speed, I'd be driving a '94 Corolla not a 350z.

That comment makes no sense to me. I drive my 350Z the same speed I drive every car I have ever driven. The car you drive should have no influence on how much you speed.

So if you had a Corolla as a rental car on a business trip would you drive it the speed limit?

Yea I speed, then again I have a laser jamming system as well as a few other interesting things to help avoid any unwanted problems. Radar jamming system is nice but, dont use it too much since it is illegal.

Offcourse i speed, but only when it is possible, so i keep it within the 10mph over speedlimit when it is crowded...

But at night, on an empty highway...

yeah, I typically stay between 5 & 10 mph over the limit. I stay close enough to the posted limits that cops won't usually give tickets for. In highly policed areas though I stay right on the limit. On highway driving I usually set my cruise control on 5mph over the limit and have a nice worry-free ride

I'd have to say you have a different mentality of 95% of the people on this board. I own 3 cars, a 1990 Chevy Lumina, 1998 Chevy S-10, and the Z. I drive the other two vehicles considerable slower number one because they simply dont go as fast and number two because the Z is a 287bhp sportscar. An I giving excuses for wreckless driving, no, I am however stating that most people want the full experience of owning this car which entails at least a little speeding.

So if you had a Corolla as a rental car on a business trip would you drive it the speed limit?
Yes, to me at least there is nothing appealing about driving fast in a Corolla, the Z however is another story.

And does it ever occur to anyone here how ridiculous cops can sometimes be if you get stopped? I don't mean this as an attack on cops, just the lunacy of the event. Look how worried you get and how guilty you feel while you're waiting for the cops to get to your door. You live a clean life, you're not a "criminal", you just went a few miles over some arbitrary published number. It's not like you set out to rob a 7-11, or steal from a neighbor!!

I don't speed cause it is appealing. I speed cause it gets me there a little quicker. Hence the reason I speed in every car I drive an equal amount. I always drive at a speed I am confident I can get away with in every car I drive.

I don't think i'd have much of a choice!

And yes I do speed. Do I feel bad about it? No. Do I do it all the time? No. Is the car only supposed to be driven at the speed limit? No.

It's too impractical for that.

speeding does not realy get me any place any quicker if the trip usualy takes 20 normal driving in order to take 5min of the trip you got to book it. running stop sign takes off the time, but i dont do that, becuase that just alittle to much.... but how ever myname does emply somthing zmespeed and i do have a few mods to help me avoid those tickets. may be more hp will help me aviod them too if ya catch my drift.

I've had people out-speed me in lesser cars, like a dodge caravan! The dude wanted (and did) like 75 in a 35 street road..whatever

“Is the car only supposed to be driven at the speed limit? No. It's too impractical for that.” – That’s a great line.

Anyway, speed limits suck. If they were just a little more reasonable with them I could understand tickets for speeding more. I have a highway by me where the speed limit is 55mph … who the hell is going to do 55mph on a highway with very little if no traffic at all (barring Buick drivers). I mean reckless speeding is one thing if your doing “130mph past a mother with kids in a minivan” then that is cause for a ticket, but doing 75mph on an open highway and having to have the cops in the back of your mind the whole time just seems a little odd to me, its not a side street people. Just doing 75mph with no one on a highway, you are already 20mph over the speed limit I posted. Are we out of control of our vehicles at 75mph?
