Maybe because the rubber compound is very dense and hard it wil take chunks off because of tire hopping perhaps?

Has to be the road. I bet small rocks chipped the rubber off.

I did one burnout and donuts. My interior filled up with white smoke. A little bit of the rubber fell off. The pavement was not that smooth. Looks like the pavement you did burnouts was rough?Damn my $200 a pop Michelins just lost 10k miles

street tires "chunk" once they start getting hot- doing donuts could push them hard enough to break stuff off

All tires do this...I should know, I buy a lot. The only way it can be countered is to buy tires with higher treadwear ratings. The downfall to this is that their grip sucks. Basically, you can either pay for more tires or quit doing donuts. Personaly, I bought a spare set of stock wheels and I put used tires on them that I buy for $40-$80 each.

ya i think they were wormed up to as good as they could be for the day.. i drove for like an hour before this and did some big doughnuts in second that left pure black behind. then when i did some little ones in first it chunked out. no wheel hop, but the surface was a bit ruff, and the temp of the day was about 60+. the second gear doughnuts left so much smoke that it went from the near by building to over the trees. i know you dont know what the place looks like but it was a lot o smoke ya i got that picture out of a video i did it was great fun, thnx

That is normal when doing burnouts and dounuts. Anytime tires get really hot the compounds in the rubber start changing and when they are really hot and soft you can rip huge chunks of rubber off.
