Default Traded the Z in for an EVO last night

I know some of you must be thinking, "Blasphemy!" but I feel this is the best solution to my practicality needs. I still love the Z, and I will I'm sure forever.

For me, this was the best change I've made. I love my new EVO. Once I drove one, I was hooked. Compared to my MY03 Z, I felt so much more connected to the road, and the fun-to-drive factor was sky-high. And now I don't have to worry about taking two cars when more than one person wants go out!

I'll still be hanging around here popping up every now and then and lurking quite frequently.

Thanks for all the great times guys!!!

Jeff

I almost did the same thing, liked the STi better though. But in the end I went with a G. Two seats gets old quick!

Congrats! The Evo is a great car. Almost did the same thing too due to the arrival of my daughter. But our other car is a Volvo turbo wagon

Thanks, guys! Z drivers are definitely a mature bunch. I half expected to get flamed for it.

I paid 29,900 for it. I got a nice deal. My car payments went down for my 5 yr loan and my insurance only went up $25 a month!

The best part about it is the 10yr/100K warranty.

If they are still in business. Isn't that warranty just for certain parts of the engine, ect? Congrats on your Evo.

That warranty covers the powertrain, and there is a 5yr bumper to bumper with 3 yr free scheduled maintenance.

I'm sure Mitsubishi won't be going out of business anytime soon. Apparently, Their sales have rebounded so large that the official bank in Japan invested multi million dollar funds in Mitsubishi that was originally slated for Toyota.

I thought about the evo first, but it was just a little bit more expensive, there are not good mitsu dealers close to me, and my insurance was just a little too muhc to bear

If my old 97 Talon TSI AWD was any indicator of Evo quality then you are definitely going to need that 10yr/100k warranty..
How much did you get for trade in for your Z?

OH yah, those DSM's dont' take much to run mid to low 12's the only problem is whether it'll start, whether or not you're fortunate enough to get crankwalk, or if you're real lucky you'll have a center differential leak and the AWD locks up on you while you are driving

Yeah the Z is not practical at all. The most you can do with the car is drive it. Nevertheless, its an awesome car to have if you can afford that impracticality.

Keep in touch...and let us know how it goes. I'm real curious to see how it holds up, and how long the "fun factor" stays with you. More interested to know thoughts after driving it for a few months daily.

I almost bought one and got the Z instead.

Not to burst the fun bubble, but Mitsubishi has been sucking for years in sales. Chrysler pumped in some more cash, but that might be at an end.

Except for the EVO, all Mitsu cars are pretty much sucking right now. Poor quality, poor design, non-competitive specs. Mitsu is right there on Hyundai level.

Maybe the new pickup and Eclipse can save their sales. Otherwise they have no market direction whatsoever and only one desirable car.

Ill take some pics after I get off work and post them up tonight.

No, it does come equipped with the wing. I like it though.

How much did you get for trade in for your Z?
The dealer I went to gave me $22,000 for it, 03 with 43K miles. There were also a few dents and paint scratches and chips-r-us on the front bumper.

I definitely will still be on the boards, though not as frequently. I'll try and post a 3 month / 6 month update and let everyone know how she holds up. It'll be my daily driver for (hopefully) a long time.

Well if worst comes to worst, Mitsubishi will be bought out by another automaker who can turn the company around and get their heads out of their @$$es.

Fun times to follow!

Too bad you had to get rid of your Z, but the Z isn't very practical and the Evo is a great car too. Post some pics of your new ride man!
