My Z days are numbered...

My Z days are numbered...
Well, the wife and I have been trying to start a family. I bought her a CRV back in November. Unfortunately I've been getting quite a bit of pressure to rid myself of the Z for a 4 door. I've been contemplating my options and I've considered a Maxima, but now that the new IS will be out in Fall I'm leaning towrds that direction, so in the meantime, I will continue to enjoy driving the Z until the day comes.

Sorry to hear that. Your Z looks great! Anyway, try to keep it if you can or perhaps trade for a G35 coupe? I almost did the same thing (for an Evo though) with the arrival of my daughter a year ago. Wife actually takled me into keeping the Z seeing it's a car I had always wanted, and Z's have been in my family in one shape or form for a while. So we ended up planning for a 3rd car instead. Can you say new M5

Don't do it! You'll be sorry!!!!
I got rid of Z #2 because my wife wanted a van to carpool in. She got her van but the carpooling never really developed. 16 years later, long after the van was gone I finally got back into a Z. I regreted getting rid of Z#2 many times over those 16 years. What I should have done was get rid of the Maxima she was driving and got the van.

Get a G35. Yes, 2 door coupes are harder, but they're not impossible, and you'll get to enjoy the car and the family.
I bought my car instead of a GT-3 because of the back seat. My daughter loves my car now that she's old enough to ride in the back and a baby-seat. We call it, "the roller coaster car".
(this was when she was 3 months old. She's now 18 months)

The Murano certainly is nice.... I got one for my wife, and I sure like driving it myself.
Its no Z, but its got plenty of power and lots of room and just as much style as the Z IMO.

its such a easy solution. buy a cheap sedan for those times when you need to transport the kid. For the 90% of the time you are driving by yourself, you've got the Z.

The wife and I are starting a family as well, and you know what? She wouldn't even dare ask me to get rid of the Z.. She has the nice 4 door car for such things. And if you bought your wife a CRV, I don't see the issue.

And isn't the photo you posted the new GS? I didn't think Lexus had released any IS photos yet, beyond the concept car they came out with last year, which was actually a hard-top conv. coupe w/a V-8, to be lusted after. At the time, they said it was at least going to be a PART of the new IS lineup; they guaranteed a convertible, and at least the option of a V-8 at some point, although they did not know if they could hit the price-point they wanted with a hard top. Haven't seen any pics of the new IS sedan before, tho'.
Good luck on your venture into Z-less fatherhood; BTW, the new overlays are going on this weekend!
