Default Dealer put swirls all over my SB 05 Touring 6sp. PICS

Dealer put swirls all over my SB 05 Touring 6sp.

Had to have a high end Detailer fix the paint. Took him over 6 hours. Looks great now. Expensive lesson. Don’t let Dealers “prep” your new SB Z.

PS: 1st time trying to add pics to posts. I hope this works

Maybe this link will work. There must be an easier way of doing this!

PS: Dealer offered to detail car. But he told me that he does about twenty a day so I need to make a reservation of an entire day. At 20 a day, I can imagine how f,ed up the completed work must be. I didnt want to take a chance. You really have to know what you are doing when it comes to clear coats and black paint

Dealer did the same sh*t to mine. It looks like they just took a dirty wet rag and wiped off the dirt. I'm dropping it off to have all the swirls removed at the dealers expense. F*ucking idiots.

when i take my car to the dealer i watch their "detailers" clean cars and it sickens me. Not only do they scratch the cars and use the worst possible chemicals and towels, but they are always dropping the towels on the floor and using them on the cars, and they drive them like maniacs.

I also just purchased a super black Z about 3 weeks ago ... I specifically told them that I take pride in detailing/cleaning cars myself and to NOT touch the car. They tried to convince me to allow them to wash/detail my car for delivery and looked at me like I was crazy when I declined. My car came dirty and swirl free! I have heard that the swirl fix is more of a temporary cover up rather then a permanent fix using layers of a polish to temporarily 'fill' the small spider/swirl scratches. Try going to a shopping center at NIGHT (ie: wallmart or gas - station w/ flourescent style lighting) park under a light and look over the paint = this will highlight any discrepancies with the finish! Sorry to hear, and I agree = the dealer should pay/ be responsible ... I have even heard of the dealers using tire brushes to quick clean the cars

This blows man, I would be pissed as hell. I would make them detail it, and if it wasn't done right I would yell, scream, and ***** until they finally detailed my car right.

My SB 35th has a fair amount of swirlies as well. Every black car I've ever owned has, so I saw it and figured I'd take care of it with a good waxing myself. I could bring it back and complain... but I don't believe the dealer has the ability to do it "right". I'd venture to say practically every car ever delivered from any dealer has this issue, the black just shows it REALLY well...

I questioned getting a black car myself = but the Z in black looks downright evil especially clean and waxed! The key is to NOT wipe the cars paint off with a towel but simply lay a microfiber cloth on to the car and gently pat it dry avoiding any kind of wiping motions as they will cause swirls to any color car, and always wax the car as this protects the finish in the sun! Oh and always wash and dry the car at night while the cars paint is cool, this will prevent swirl marks caused by the sun as well as water spots!

I bought my 04 super black (w/burnt orange seats) touring ZR on 3/20/04 and took it back to dealer 4 seperate times for paint issues within 30 days. When they put it in the lights (started deal in full daylight, left dealership at nightime) saw all these "scratches" they told me were normal "swirls" on a black car. After seeing the car in daylight the next day, I took it back to the dealer, who had a pro company called Leading Edge work on it to deal with my paint issues. They did a process that heats up the clearcoat and blends it together. I understand the swirl concept on a black car, but just refused to also deal with what I perceive as scratches (in clear coat) or imperfections. This all started because the dealer waxed my new car while I was working out the last details on my buy deal that night (they messed it up while doing that, was fine prior to them 'cleaning' it up for me).

This February I traded my 04 SB Touring ZR for an 05 SB Touring ZR (with BO seats). The 05 was Picture Perfect, not a scratch, still had just 22 miles on it (no test drives), and I demanded no one washed or touched this car or I would not buy it. If you buy a new SB Z, do not let them clean it!

It's not that I did not love my 04 SB ZR (I clearly did), it's that my Z smile is now a little wider in 2005! Love the way this car looks Without the splashguards (and with my wider BBS wheels/S-03 tires). Besides the known 05 model differences, splashgaurds were the only visual change from my 04 ZR. Super Black is the best color (IMO) When Clean! Results are worth any extra effort vs other colors. Owned one SB, and bought another SB, nuff said...

The first rule of fight club.

Never let a dealer wash your car. Ever.

Thanks for the nice remarks. And heads-up to all of you regarding Dealer detailing practices.
Don't know name of wax detailer used. He did use a 3M product along with a two stage buffing wheel to remove scratches. He then hand waxed the car. 6hours and $300 later it looked great. It has been about a month since I did this. I have washed the car several times. I also cover it with Nissan dealer cover. Car still looks great. I bought Blackmagic wax and detailer. I will re-wax in a couple of weeks

I got my 03 SB w/ 7k miles on it. Within that amount of time, the damage had already been done.
