VDC = Vehicle Dynamic Control (or something like that)

 

the base model has neither the TCS or the VDC. Basically, the TCS prevents wheel slip on accleration and when in snow, rain, gravel, etc... The VDC controls throttle to the back wheels, and braking to all wheels to help keep you on the road while driving. Base model does not have traction control... Performance, Enthusiast, Track, and Touring come with some type of traction control. I have the Touring which has the VDC and it works a lot better than the TCS.

 

All Enthusiast-up models have TCS. Only Perfomance-up manual models have VDC.

Why does everyone always insist on replying to peoples questions with "Do a search"??

 

Like everyone else said, performance and up has either TCS or VDC. If you're wondering if you should get it or not, you definitely should IMO; it's saved me more than a few times in the rain/snow.

 

Wish it was off by default.. I always forget its on and make a fool of myself when I try to take off fast...

That middle part is me cussing when the traction control kicks in

 

Put a small sticker on teh gauges that says "TURN TCS OFF".

 

Because thats what the search button is for. To look for topics like this that may have already been covered and avoid asking the same questions time and time again.

At this point in time, the post is fine because the search function is not properly working.

 

I can understand if the answer is complicated or a long story, but something simple like this?? It takes two seconds to answer. I didnt know it was such a burden to help out a fellow enthusiast. While were at it, anytime somebody asks a question that as already been asked, lets just have the Mods delete the thread right off the bat.

People only say that because the question comes up quite often. Its also a very easy question to answer because you can go to Nissan's website and take three minutes to look up the answer yourself. Granted posting a question for someone else is easier, but if its somewhat common knowledge on the board or presented by the manufacturer on their website, it can easily be found on one's own.

Its no different than someone asking "What intake should I get?" or "What exhaust will give the best gain for the least money?". Once you start seeing these questions enough, you get tired of answering them. Its just the way any internet forum is, especially car forums.

 

OK, this is pointless. Just something I noticed happening a lot lately.

TCS is on the Zs, minus the base. Even those cars with the VDC, have an underwritten TCS that is not actively controlled via a push button, so even if the VDC is turned off, the computer still is functioning with some TCS parameters. If i'm not mistaken you have to pull a fuse to eliminate the underlying TCS on VDC equipped vehicles.
So just by turning the VDC off, you are not eliminating all traction control.
