Do the brakes still work if you pull the fuse for VDC? Do the brake lights still work?

If you don't want the VDC on, why not just push the button?

The brakes still work, but i think ABS is turned off???
Just turning the VDC off, doesn't eliminate all traction control, there are still underlying TCS type programs that the ECU sees, and you cannot just turn them off if you have VDC.
Cars with only TCS can turn off all traction control, since those are the only functions and programs they have running.

something weird has happened to my car.

I disconnected the VDC

did a few dynos

of course when you dyno, the ABS and Brake lights come on afterword because they freak out that your front tires aren't moving.

but.... it's been 2 months now since my last dyno and those lights are STILL on

I've reset the ECU quite a few times - and still nothing.

I'm probably going to try reconnecting VDC to see if it has any effect on the ABS and Brake lights....any ideas? Maybe there is something wrong with my brake system?

So you actually have the Fuse removed all the time? Oh cool, I guess if the lights coming on is the only downside I can live with that.

I am guessing when you replace the fuse they'll go away sensing that VDC is calculating everything properly.

no we're talking two different things

I disabled the VDC plug

you're talking about disabling the brake fuse

if you do that, no your brake lights won't work, but you can do big burn outs yeah

If you disable VDC in the center console, you'll have the SLIP and VDC OFF lights on 100% of the time.

What i was talking about was in addition to those two lights - which is a given for disabling VDC, is I also have the ABS and BRAKE lights on all the time suspiciously after doing a dyno. And they have never gone back off.

So even though your saying the VDC/TCS button turnsoff the TCS/VDC functions, not all of the TCS programming is disabled?

that's correct. At least for VDC that's true. Not 100% if it's the same with TCS - it might turn it all the way off

If you have only TCS, then turning it off will disable it fully.
If you have VDC, then no some TCS functions will still be running.

VDC and TCS are two separate functions totally, but work hand in hand. So a car that's running VDC, pushing the button will not turn off TCS fully, there are default programs still running with the ECU.
I don't know why Nissan did this to be honest, it's more pain than it's worth, but that's Why I picked the model that I did, because there was no VDC

On VDC equiped cars, according to my 05 Owner Guide, disabelling the VDC just disable the directionnal corrections made by it. The car can now drift. Otherwise, any opposite lock will have the brake adjust to straighten the car.

Turning it OFF does NOT turn off the ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip). That system will selectively apply brake power to a spinning rear wheel. This is probably why the rear brakes burn off on the track (guys are flooring it and ABLS prevents burnouts)

About the ABS lights, some car manufacturers made it so that if the light comes on, it does not turn off until you visit your dealer...
