Default Stupid Dealership

I just called the dealership I purchased my Z from to inquire about the Nismo parts and installations they have been touting.
Despite the fact they have a 'Nismo Department", the service guy told me he didnt have a labor cost estimate for the Nismo Catback because they have never installed one!!!
He said they would have to put another Z on the rack and install/remove the "one" nismo Catback they have in stock to figure out how much it would be.
Is that cheesy or what? Sure, use my car as a guneia pig to install a $1100 exhaust system to LEARN on.
No way......no how....

They shouldn't charge more than $75 or so. The Nismo exhaust is pretty easy to install from what I hear.

You can get the exhaust from MyNismo.com for less that $900 and install it yourself for a few hours of minor effort. Basic tools are all that's required. Ramps help, and are only about $30 at you local auto parts store.

+ the dealership will charge you full MSRP which is $1100, then add on labor. Not worth it. Reminds me of a post I read abut Infiniti charging $3K for a brake job.

Grab a buddy, get a lift or ramps and do it yourself. Its that simple. If you don't wanna do that, get the Exhaust from Performance Nissan for $900, and pay a local muffler shop to do it. The dealer will RAPE you, I promise you that!

Service advisor only needs to talk to somebody in the parts department. The NISMO catalog that my dealer has (had) listed the labor time with each part. If I remember correctly, the official time is like ¾ of an hour. Shouldn't take more than one hour tops.

Yeah the dealer will rip you off on the labor. They wanted $120 just to get the rear brake pads installed. With my pads! Went to a local shop $40 for install.
