1@#%* Nissan Paint
I noticed this morning a new chip in my paint on the fender, right above the passenger side front tire. It's the size of the end of my little fender. Way too big to be touched up. What gets me is that the paint around the edge of the chip looks like it's raised away from the primer. Looks like the color coat is not stuck to the primer coat. Oh well, I'm off to the body shop for estimate.
PAINT JOB SUCKS, I have my Z up on stands for winter storage and that gave me a good chance to take a good look under and around the rocker, front, rear panels. The paint to me seems really thin and they actually missed some spots, just a poor job, thank God for the clear bra I had installed up front.Anyone else noticed this?
Cars that cost half as much have a better paint job, figure that one out...

Ya Nissan really cheaped out on the paint for this car.... I've mentioned this before but my Infiniti which has like 4x the milleage on it has no paint chips, but my roadster with only 2200 miles on it, has atleast 18 small chips in it already... Im just going to wait till it gets really bad then have the whole car repainted with quality paint.

The paint in equally bad on at least the Maximas and Sentras, it's not just the 350 (probably all new Nissans if I had to guess). I had a clearbra installed on mine less than 24 hours after I bought it after past experience with my other Nissans. While the paint fragility is annoying, I've owned 11 new Nissans in my life and have never had to do anything other than oil changes and tire rotations. So I'll pay my $500 for the clearbra and keep buying Nissans.
Had the dealer look at the chip. They said it’s just a chip, no problem with the paint. Nissan won’t cover it. Big surprise. Had them give me an estimate, $368. Took it to a friends shop, $200. Gonna have him fix it next week.

I remember when Nissan paint was almost like a suit of armor. The paint on my '99 Maxima was beautifully done and seemed to be an inch thick (Lakeshore Blue). It just wouldn't chip. Ah, the good ol' days.
