Default steering wheel reach

I have heard a lot of talk about how the Z has good head and leg room, I was just curious about the driving position in regards to the steering wheel reach. I am 6'3" and will have the seat most of the way back, do you think the wheel is in a good position or does it need a teliscoping as well as tilt wheel?

Default STEERING WHEEL

I'm 6'5" and 290 and I was worried too. I sat in a G35 sedan at the OKC Auto show and had plenty of room, even though I couldn't adjust the seat back since the show makes the dealers disconnect the battery for safety reasons. Even with this handicap I could adjust the wheel high enough for me. The Porsche 928 has the same seup, instruments move with the wheel, so even large pro athletes could fit.

The guys in the BrianZ video likes the reach.....

I think one comment was something like....it was nothing like the s2000...the s2000 has too long of a reach

Most Hondas have a long reach. I guess their design engineers forget to take into account that Americans are taller than the Japanese... hopefully Nissan doesn't follow that same misconception.

I'm a little confused on your statement. If Americans are taller then the long reach with the Hondas will be ideal, wouldn't it?

I see where you misunderstood. Shorter people sit closer to the wheel since they have shorter legs.

I understand how smaller people sit closer to the wheel. However, you mentioned that they didn't take into account that Americans are generally taller. Wouldn't that mean the reach is shorter then? In contradiction, you said Honda cars have a long reach. Not like it matters or anything, just curious.

Default reach

tall folks have long legs, and long arms, but legs are longer than arms so you can have the seat back causing you to have to reach with your arms straight out. This is not the ideal driving position.

Boomer i see that u put a grand down on a new z. Arnt you worried that you might not fit? Im 6-2 about 280 and like you i sat in a g35 sedan and had room, but the z looks like it will be a tight fit, if not un cumftorable. From the looks of the pics, it looks like the seat can only go so far back due to the storage/speakers right behind the seats. Just a thought.

Default reach part 2

longer reach requires you to put the seat closer to straight up and down witch is the oppisite of what you want to do for head room.

Default Shorty

Im 5'7 and thats not that tall, but when I drive I usually put my seat almost all the way back reclining and am able to have the wheel without reaching. My problem is with leg room. I have friends taller than me, but they dont put the seat back as far as I do, I guess I just have longer legs than them and bigger feet, lol. My thing is, how low is the car going to be off the ground? Right now my celica is pretty low to the ground, I wonder if its going to be lower or higher.... I personally like lower cars, but one bad thing...... BRIGHT LIGHTS in the rearview mirror and side mirrors. Does anyone else have a problem with trucks behind them with BRIGHT lights?!?!

Default auto dimming rear view

I'm not a big fan of all things high tech on a sports car, and would not pay extra for an auto dimmer, but its included for free. I rented a car and had my first experience with auto dimming and was impressed, the brighter the lights the darker it gets. The side mirrors are not dimming, but the way I have them adjusted I never have a problem.

6"4, 235 here. Also wondering how much room there is in the 350z. The BrainZ movies got me worried because they showed how the seats are limited because of the bar that is behind them. Right now i have a Ford Escort ZX2 (Great car btw, it flies and handles amazingly well for the price), and can fit perfectly fine. Any comparisons of the space would be appreciated. thnx
