The only problem that I see with not having a front plate (I'm going to use the zip tie method) is that a cop may use that as an excuse to pull you over! And if for some chance you happened to have lets say 2 beers with your dinner while eating out (I said 2 not 10), and he suspects or smells alcohol on you = you may be in a lot more trouble than you suspect! It's better to be safe than sorry

In West Los Angeles, the fix it ticket was $25 (back in October 2004).
