I thought once a car was stolen it got a salvage title with a theft recovered branded on it... I was hoping I was wrong.

I don't think the seats are aftermarket. I think they're an upgrade. You can order the Track with leather. You can also order with the wing but I don't think that started till 04 model year.

I'd buy it. Especially since it still has a warranty. Question is, how much is left on it.

As for resale, I don't think you'll have any problems.

I verified the VIN with a Nissan dealer, powertrain til December of 2007 or 60,000 miles and the rest of the car is til December 2005 or 36000 miles.

When I was looking around for Zs I came across this one as I live in MA, I emailed the dealer and asked why the car wasn't returned to the owner if it was a theft recovery, he said it was a "suspicous" theft.

I ended up passing on it part of the reason was that there are some shady dealers located in the area where the car is located, and I wasn't going to take a chance.

Thanks for the tip. These guys have so far been very helpful. I just need to find out the details on what the title is to see if I can even finance it.

I found out it is a salvage title, so this car cannot be financed through almost everyone.

I guess I was wrong! Oops!

Honestly, in that case, move on. Find something that isn't as shady a deal.

I think it may be aftermarket. If you look at the last picture you can see a "Z" in the headrest of the driver's seat. Nissan wouldn't put this on as far as I know.

A buddy of mine has a Z roadster with "Z" emblems embroidered on the headrests. I know for a fact that its done from the factory since he leased the car and is not modding it. (hes saving money for an Elise)

Have you ever had a rental car? I drive it like its not mine, huh because its not. I would never get a car that was stolen and they had it for any length of time, but that is just me. Who knows what they did when they had it. Good luck in whatever u do.

Were you able to get a Car-Fax printout to see more of the specifics re:the cars salvage title. Typically, a salvage title means (as has been said by other people on this post) the insurance co. totaled the vehicle. But, often the damage and reason for the total could be inconsequential in the scheme of things. A few years back we had some flooding in our area. The local Porsche dealer got hit pretty hard, mostly customer vehicles being serviced were hit. Many only had wet carpets. The insurance company found it more expedient to just total everything. One of the 911 convertibles was totaled. Value was about $55k. The cars owner bought his own car back from the insurance company for $19k. My buddy one of the Porsche techs bought it from the owner for $23K. Replaced the carpeting and some wiring under the driver seat. Kept it for 2 years and resold it for $30k. Car was absolutely problem free but did have salvage title. You need to find out the real story behind the salvage title. If all looks OK and you plan on keeping it for a long time you could make out. Good luck.

They used to offer a package for leather and Navi in the Track and Performance cars. '05 was the first year that they did away with that and only offered it in the Touring. I think it had something to do with the 35th anniversary model. I mean if you could buy a Track with leather and Navi for cheaper than the 35th(just because it is labeled a 35th anniversary car and a slight shade difference on the side marker) why woudl anyone buy the 35th?

Salvage title= 1/2 of the cheapest price you can find like vehicle. Probably real value $12K-$15K. Use the Porche example above $55k sold to owner for under $20K.

A salvage title is like herpes to a car, once you get it, youve got it for life! There are plenty of good deals on Z's out there, no doubt you will be able to find another one. Also, take into consideration the high interest rate you will be charged (if you even find someone to finance you), vs the 0-5% interest rate rate you will be charged by Nissan. At the end of the day, you havent saved a lot of $$, have a big headache, and will very likely have trouble selling the car in the future.

Im pretty certain you can't get this from the factory. Nissan dealerships love to add this sort of stuff to their cars and charge buku $$$ for it!

Agreed. I was going to say $13k max...then it may be worth the trouble.

are you sure it still has warranty? usually when they are Branded or Salvaged on the title, would make the car "red" flagged in warranty, meaning warranty has been voided. cause if the car has a clean title, then it would be in good standing for the manufacturers warranty. i know for a fact that for honda's/Acura's , if the title has "salvaged or Branded" title on it, it is immediatly reported on the VIN from the insurance company to Honda of America in Torrance and they "red" flag the cars on warranty on every VIN status.

If it has as salvage title, it will have NO Nissan factory warranty. Go look at the warranty booklet. There's a clause in there on that. I'm 100% certain of that.

If I had the booklet in front of me, I'd quote the passage for you.

When/if Nissan finds out and you have that car, you'll be screwed on the warranty. I'd walk away unless a warranty isnt important to you.
