Default Stupidest thing i have ever done...

Hey guys...today i went to best buy to pick up my new Escort Passport 8500 x50 radar detector. When i finished installing it in my car, i drove the car forward into a parking block (those cement blocks that are in the front of every parking space). I heard a very unpleasant noise which sounded like my rear bumper coming off, but when i got out of the car, the cement block was demolished and there were no noticeable scratches on my car. I was very surprised and amazed that my paint or front and rear bumper didnt suffer any damage at all. I am concerned with my suspension, as the tires completely went over them and then onto the ground again making a harsh sound. I felt completely guilty on the way home, but couldnt notice any difference in the ride. Do you think I should get the car checked out or do you think i should be fine? There is no damage to any of the body work...

haha. sorry to laugh but I did that when I was 16 learning out to drive with my parents chevy lumina. I'm sure if you take it to your local Nissan dealership they can once-over it for you. For your sake make I hope you didn't do any damage. Those cement blocks can be unforgiving, but it sounds like you may have lucked out.

I'd really be surprised if there were "no" damage since the Z is so low...get it on a lift to be sure.

And USE REVERSE NEXT TIME NOOB! j.k.

How did you not notice that you were running something over when your tires hit it? LOL
I can imagine jumping your front tires up but running all the way over it? LMAO
Go back to the parking lot and park next to a block to see if you could've cleared it and/or what you would've hit.

Haha, hearing that sound must've been a horrible feeling. But it sounds like you lucked out this time. Did you hear any scraping, clunking, or other noises as you drove over the cement block? If you didn't, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine, especially since you didn't notice any problems on the drive home. If I were you, I wouldn't pay to have it checked out. Just jack it up in your garage and look it over.

I would avoid taking to a Nissan dealership since they would charge you labor just to look at it. I would take it to any place that has a lift and just look it over yourself. I doubt you did any serious damage.
This past Friday I had my ZR up on a lift at a local garage. They didn't even charge me for use of the lift. This is all part of making friends with someone with a lift.

Its nice to know there is no noticable damage... that sometimes means no damage at all!! But, get the car checked out head to toe and don't tell Best Buy that it was you that tore up their cement block!! They might make you pay for it! Now we can all brag that the Z is strong enough to crush cement... try that you damn STi drivers!! BTW no more running over things...next time it could be a person.

you must have been going pretty quick to go over it and have your tires go back on the ground. Get under your car and check it out.

my sister did that in her civic once and then a few months later her exuast pipe got disconnected from her muffler... It sounded like a NASCAR when she was driving down the street before she got it fixed.

Oh, so that sound is when a Civic exhaust is broken! I thought thats just what the hispanics did to their 25 yr. old cars to make them go faster!! LOL

(No offense to Hispanics...just seems like they're the only ones that do that)

Ok, go measure the parking block. Then measure the clearance of your Z. Then check what would've hit. :-)

I pulled into 7-11 first week I got the Z and scraped over those darned contraptions. Of course billions of people there because it was lunch hour. Very embarassing but no noticable damage. Get underneath with a lamp and find out for sure.
