What difference does it make? Does your daddy have to buy your a Civic, Kia, or a Scion. I mean if he has the money and you want a Z so be it. While my dad didn't help buy my Z he did help buy my first car 11 year ago.

Yes, my dad got the Z for me. But that's because he can afford it. I appreciate the hell out of it. If I don't keep it in supreme condition I can say bye, bye.

Saying that it's wrong for parents to buy their kids nice cars is stupid. I mean, if you made enough money that buying your kid a nice car wouldn't hurt then why not? That would be like donald trump buying his kids some old POS beater car. It's just stupid.

For those of you that do and/or will have children wouldn't you like to be able to buy them a nice car?

I hear you on that one!! My friend got a POS for her 17th B-day.. she was driving and the front bumper fell off and got caught in the fornt wheel well and she went off the road and hit a tree!! Now would you really want that to happen to your kid? Z or tree?

Simple question. Implications are added by you.
Guilt, embarrased or are you getting "flammed" by your peers?
Oops, another question.

Actually, no. My grandfather bought mine for me. He sold his 62 Chevy Impalla 409 to buy me this. All the mods however were bought on my own, and as someone said, if I do not keep it imaculant (sp) then it will get sold. On the other hand, I did diserve it in more ways than any of you can understand.

Well when i was 17 rents bought me a 2002 celica gt. They gave me the title to the car when i was 19, and i bought a 2004 mustang svt cobra. Of course they had to co-sign but i made the payments. I totaled that, so then the rents got involved. They just recently bought me a brand new 2005 350z. They paid cash for it, so all i gotta do is pay thru them. So yes they did put me on my feet, but I was the one who got those 2 feet moving. I do admit i am spoiled, but thats because i am the only child, i have a 4.0 GPA, and i will be going into law school soon. Since im going into law, the rents dont want me to work that much, so they'll probably end up letting me have the Z even though i still owe them. Im gonna probably end up selling it cause i want an 06/07 cobra. The only reason i couldnt get another cobra when i wrecked is because they felt it was too powerful for me. They pretty much forced me into getting the Z. Its not a bad car, and is pretty cool to drive, but ive had the car for about 2 weeks now and tired of it. If they gave me the title today, i would sell it immediately. I just really miss the cobra, and feel that no other car can replace the cobra.

My first car was a 1967 Mustang GT, my dad bought it for me, I think I must have been a good kid too. Mustangs are great cars. The ZR is just to much fun!
Dad still likes me. He's 87 now. Truthfuly he has said I'm a little nuts.

Whats up with Z owners and wanting to know who's paying for their cars? I just don't know. I've been in some forums and have really never seen a thread like this. Are you guys jealous or something when a younger kid gets one. Why does it matter if their dad/mom bought them one. And yes I did pay for my own for those who are gonna try and say my mom/dad bought me mine. Seriously who cares. The cars awesome, and if a kid got it he's one lucky basta_rd. But i don't wanna know about it or read about it. So please lets stop these stupid questions. Thank you!

there's a difference between buying your kid a decent car vs buying them a fast sports car.

I wouldn't buy my kid a sports car.

And they'd have to earn at least some fraction of the car themselves.

If they ever got a sports car after they move out, I'd egg them on to take a few driving coarses and go with them. And I'd make fun of them if they didn't take them - say stuff like, "so when you going to learn how to actually drive that car?"

I don't want my kids doing something stupid trying to show off to their friends or make some stupid driving decsions with speeding and fast turns without knowing how to handle the car when the tail starts kicking out etc.

and no i don't have kids....

decent car vs sport car

hmmm
do u really belive that your children can crush car only becuz its omg so fast and u cant control it

even if u buy them some 1.2 engine reno or something they can crush it easy if they dont know how to drive

sport car or not , first of all ill check my son driving skill ( if he want i can buy him some gay car so he can get driving skill ) ( for sure even its its gay car first time he have to drive with me or teacher , or just go to drive school and learn there ) in emergency situation and only then buy him car ( the one he choose no matter sport or not )

my parents gave me my dad's used toyota 4runner when I graduated high school.

Their reasoning was as long as I got A's and B's in high school and was going to go onto college, they'd give me the 4runner. I didn't feel spoiled or unappreciative of it, though I didn't value it as much as the first car I bought on my own.

I don't believe in giving a lazy kid any sort of nice car or actually any car without them putting in some kind of work - whether it's money or school or both

wookie how old are you? not picking on you, just an observation. Every high school kid thinks they're a good driver

a person can wreck any car. The odds of your high school friends egging you on to floor it and drive fast in a civic is a lot less likely than in a brand new sports car like the Z. Also there's the temptation to show off a sportscar to friends/girls/whatever, whereas with an economy car/truck well the idea just makes you look lame. I know what it's like in high school - people do stupid stuff with their cars because they think it's funny and they're just out having fun. It almost does't matter what car they do it in, but a sports car will just amplify the problem. I did stupid stuff with cars in high school - purposely driving over medians, purposely swirving from one side to another to see if my buddy driving behind me would echo it. Not only was I making stupid decisions, I barely had any experience. Had I had a sports car, it could have gotten dangerous where other people could have been hurt

giving a performance car to someone who's never driven one before is asking for trouble unless you can coach them on how to do high performance driving.

Just how many parents take their car to the track to drive hard? A lot do, but generally most don't.

My mom once said to me when I got a speeding ticket a year ago, that a car like the Z is for having something nice looking to drive and not for trying to drive like a race car......I somehow don't think she's the only parent out there that thinks that regardless of how sad her opinion is
