Default Automatic downshifts sealed off at around 4k

I take my 5AT touring z to the track often, and I realized the disadvantages of my auto. One of the most prominent issues is the downshift. The car will not let me downshift after roughly 4k, as to probably protect the engine, so I end up having to brake more than I need to. When I downshift, it goes to about 5-5.5k from the 4k downshift limit, not using the full capability of downshifting to reach the 6.5k limit or possibly redlining. Is there a way to take off this downshift seal at 4k? Is there some ECU that I can get that can change the way the car works for the 5at downshifting?

Any help is appreciated. =)

Default i wonder if valve body upgrade..

would help in this. i went to a road course once. but they made us stay on 3rd gear at all times. but I have noticed this while i try to hit tight corners and downsift at the same time.

I'm in the same boat and agree, the inconsistant response when downshifting can be a nuisance. If you delay the downshift to the last second you're more likely to get an accurate response. I find myself peeking at the display while at max braking to confirm the downshift actually occurred before turn-in. I checked with the dealer about a software update to the "auto-blipping" feature on the '05, was told it's firmware or mechanical and not available as an update. I guess we have to live with it or learn to heel/toe a bit and hope the torque converter doesn't hook up in the process.

yea, I end up having to look at the meter everytime I downshift to make sure I'm seeing 4k to maximize the downshift.

I don't have any problems downshifting at 4k rpms. If I do that the rpms go into the yellow zone. Which is too high. It doesnt prevent from over reving.

I asked the same question not long ago. This is a reply I got from Jason Mendelson: "It sounds like you want the Stillen Valve Body
Upgrade".

It is $699 plus shipping. Contact>>>> JasonM@perfnissan.com
