Lightbulb Interesting Phone Conversation with Dealer RE: Deposits

Just got off the phone with a nissan dealer who told me that, by federal law, it is illegal for a dealer to claim a deposit is "non-refundable".

In fact, this gentleman said that he once worked at a dealer in Florida and that down there the state will close down a dealer if it takes deposits under the claim that they are non-refundable.

He didn't give me the exact statute, nor did I ask. Still, this should be good news for a great many here who've put down deposits under the claim that they are non-refundable.

best,

kyle

I thought that was the case, or something like that, BUT the BBB says I'm wrong.

But I should also mention that my dealer made it very clear that my deposit was totally refundable at any time for any reason I wanted. She's just a good dealer.
