i would never give my z up, not even if my girl had a car that could own mine, i like my z too much, and i wouldnt have to do anything to it (mod it), so that i could feel comfortible in my relationship... i'm sure your girl could care less about the z's et and trap, she probably wants something "cute" and sporty", and if she's a decent girl, she wont rub it your face that she has a faster car, she probably doesnt even know that it beat the wrx, you could tell her that you had some mods done and raise your psi and her stock z couldnt beat you... i'm sure she isnt on a forum asking which car she can get so that she can be faster than her boyfriend's wrx.

people buy faster cars than the wrx everyday, you're not going to be able to ebat all of them... some you just have to know are faster than you, and live with it... i do.

besides its not like you're actually going to race her are you??? not to mention that racing is always dangerous under any conditions and you wouldnt want to put her wellbeing at risk because you have hang up about driving a slower car... but thats like your girl telling you that she's stronger than you and challenging you to a fight, then you go workout, watch rocky and kick her azz. be comfortible with your car and girl - the z thing wont become a problem for you.

When I was stock I raced a wrx(boost cont,down pipe,CAI). From 5-110 we were even. A stock wrx would get walked pretty bad.

 

Dude just race her from a dead stop til about 30 mph, you should be ahead .

 

i agree my buddy has a wrx with an up pipe down pipe and tires and i dont kill him i walk on him... it wouldnt take that much money to keep up with a Z. let her get the Z it will be a nice contrast. 4 door to a 2 seater 2 door. you will enjoy it more then see will...

Wait a minute if you are running mid 13's at 99 mph you'll owned your gf's z from a stop. From a roll she probably won't even see you in the rearview.

 

A stock auto Z will trap high 90's.... just always run from a stop and shut down before she wheels you in

 

modded sti can kill a stock Z no problem... stock sti vs stock z from a stop Z doesn't have a chance. stock sti vs stock Z from a roll is normally pretty close... I have seen it go both ways.... when I raced one from a roll I was barely walking him pulling like 1 inch a second if that.

STI's can be modded cheaper i think so a higher percentage of them are modded than Z's.

 

Buy a Cobb Tuning AccessPort for $595 and flash your ECU to a Stage 1 map. I had a 2003 WRX for 3 years and my Cobb Stage 2 was faster than my Z. Stage 1 is pretty impressive though considering you can use it on a stock vehicle. I drove around with that for almost a year... just that and a Prodrive muffler which didn't do much of anything for power.

 

Agreed. I raced a WRX with boost controller, exhaust, down pipe & don't remember what else & he took me (I have a stock 6spd) from a stop. Once we got rolling he pretty much stayed ahead of me without pulling away until we got to like 90s.

My 1/4 mile times are consistent 14.1s @ 99 to 101 with 2.0 to 2.1 60' times on shitty stock tires.

 

So you're "sure" my gf couldn't care less. Trust me, she knows that the car is faster than mine. Trust me, if we ever hit a light together, she'll run me, or anyone else who wants to race. On top of that, while we're sitting at home she'll let me know about how her car is faster at opportune moments, like when she's losing an argument or something she'll say "your just mad cause your car is slower," or something to that effect. I could do without this, seriously, I am very into my car (whatever carit may be at the time) and I might go as far as to partially define myself by it. The moral implecations really don't matter to me here, I just need to have a faster car than her. Every guy measures their a different way, I measure mine something like: Size = (K/(1/4 et))*(1/4 trap)-(# of ppl I know whos 1/4 ET< my 1/4 ET)*K( if GF's 1/4 ET< my 1/4 ET)

 

um, ok first of all your g/f sounds a bit like a immature jerk if she throws that up when shes losing an argument.

That or, as I suspect, you are full of it. (Or maybe, judging by your posts here, it means enough to you that it IS why you are pissed)

Anyone that can define themselves by the type of car they drive has some serious depth issues. Mainly the terrifying lack of it.

A stock WRX wont beat a stock Z, auto z vs stick wrx might be somewhat close, but otherwise, no.

So bottom line here sounds pretty simple.

Either suck it up and drop the cash on enough upgrades to get you in the 290/270 hp/tq range and you will pull even with her, or get over it, be happy your g/f can afford a nice vehicle and so can you and grow up.

End of discussion, nothing else left to say. Either mod your car or get over it.
