If you put it on at all, put it on the grill. IMHO it looks much better without.

I have one of those Zee brackets that fit in the tow bolt hole. I don't look for reasons to interact with the police if I don't have to and plates are required in California.

I use galvanized wires to hold the plate on the grill.

Even if it's required, don't put it on. It makes it a whole lot easier for cops to get your license plate number and stick you with a ticket if you're speeding. The fix it ticket for the license plate will be a lot cheaper then a speeding ticket. Not that I have any experience with this (I've never lived in a state that required them) but I read that in a magazine.

i have mine in oon the dash basicly laying flat. you can see it fine if you stand in front of the car but at a distance the wipers cover basicaly all of it. any one mounted it behind the grill ive thought about it. maybe on the back of that aluminam bumper

No, you should not install the nose mask right away.

I'd say between two and four weeks, but I'd take the advice of the person/shop that is doing the repaint on this one. They'll know the precise length of time better than anyone else.
