I found the Z I want!!!
Hey Guys,
Today I found the Z I have been looking for, a blue automatic enthusiast model. It's priced at $22k OBO and has 31k miles. That's about average use for driving in the bay area of california. The lady is selling it cuz she's moving out of state, and she also spent $5k on the rims alone, so I'm thinking of trying to sell those and buying some cheaper rims.
What do you guys think about it?
Also what should I look for/ask when I go to look at it today after work?
-Steve

wow. that's alot of miles. I'm assuming '03? And what the heck kinda rims are these?
well, rims aside, I think that's a bit pricey for an '03 automatic enthusiast with that many miles. I'm thinking $20K is ALL the pesos for this one ... and only if you really love it.

LMAO...$5k for 17" rims? She's either full of it or she got totally ripped off or assumes you're a sucker who's going to believe that bs. And no you won't be able to sell those rims to get cheaper ones unless you want to get some 13" Niches...lmao.

I would say that 31k is not that many miles at all if she bought the car back in late 2002 which is when many of the preorders and first buyers got their 03 models. Also, are you sure it is an Enthusiast model? I only thought the 5AT was available in the touring model in 03?? Does it have leather seats? Also, you can buy very expensive 17" wheels, you just need to verify the make/model and if she is including the cost for the tires which quickly add up. The real question is if you feel comfortable with the purchase. It sounds like it has what you were looking for, is priced right around the blue book value and if it was well taken care of I think you are looking at a fair deal. If I am not mistaken, that bb value you speak of is trade-in and not sale value correct? I guess I am thinking of a touring model. I would have to double check, but I like to look at both trade-in and sale value. If the car is really in excellent shape, I will offer a little under sale value, but if it is only good, I will offer closer to trade-in value.

the AT is also available on the enthusiast. but hey, if its a trouing, which i doubt, thats even better.
as far as the worth. the 21k is private party at "good" condition. "excellent" is about 22k. trade in is around 19k, but trade-in price is mostly a dealer thing. if she was willing to accept trade-in, im sure she would just do that instead of selling it privately.

I am fairly certian that this is an Enthusiast model. There is no Bose radio and the seats look like cloth, not leather. However, like zzzya said, if this is what you really want, and you are happy about the price, miles, condition, etc... then get it. It seems like a fair deal to me, maybe not a great deal, but nothing to complain to the owner about either. And the ad does say OBO, so if you really want it you can negotiate a little bit, and that will probably lower the price some. Either way, if you get it or you keep looking for something else, welcome to the community, and never be afraid to ask questions (unless you are asking how old you were when you got your Z ) Good luck on your purchase!!!
zzzya, are you a pharmacist? If so, cool, that is what I am in school for. Should be out in a year or two. Just thought I would ask...

This is a fair price, but not a great deal. If you like everything about the car, go for it, but obviously try to get it as cheap as possible. I don't know why all you people are making a huge deal out of the rims, you could very, VERY easily see 5k with 17in rims. Go to HRE's website, there are plenty of 17in rims between $900-1300 each. She might also be including price of tires.
