i've noticed that on the freeway, in 6th gear, that there is a whine coming from the tranny when its under load (aka. the gas pedal is down)

anyone else hear a slightly high pitched whine?

 

I get that whine in every gear. Nissan tech says it normal but I'm (skeptical). It my whine gets worse, back to the dealer it goes. Tell me, when did you start to notice that whine? Perhaps after some "spirited" driving?

 

i noticed the whine immediately after i got the car when i was on the freeway.


but i noticed it more in 6th gear than any other gear.. if the music is off, its very noticable.

i haven't done any spirited driving. (doh) until my break in is done.

well.. ok maybe a few revs to 5k. but nothing more. i swear! :P

 

I have that same whine you're talking about, but 3 people can't be wrong. I guess its normal.

 

I've heard it as well, but only after hitting about 80MPH or so. Kinda annoying.

 

I also have a slight hum or whine or whatever in 6th gear, but only at 3k rpm. And I mean exactly at 3k. A little under 3k, no whine, a little over 3k no whine. I think of it as my own little indicator sound to let me know I've hit 80mph. If I need to slow down, I can back off, if I want to speed up, I can give it a little more gas, push past the 3k mark, goodbye whine, goodbye 80!

Haven't heard anything in any other gears at 3k. Hoping I never do.
