Didn't you get your NEW letter from Nissan? Or have you seen the threads posted here? The tire feathering coverage has been extened until October 2005 or 36 months which ever is later.
If you got that then take it with you to the dealership. If you still have iussues go to a different dealership.
Yes I got the letter. My point was that they replaced the tires ONCE and when the problem came back with under 21,000 miles on the car and less than 11,000 on the new tires (the old TSB spec) the district manager for NNA declined me, not the dealer.
Going to a different dealer in the same district would have done nothing - all dealers have to get approval for warranty repairs over a certain dollar amount. But I DO plan on trying again with the new letter.

How do you know? Did you actually try it? You can say that a district manager this, a district manager that, but until you actually try you really don't know. I'm sure if you went to a dealer where you were well liked or well known they wouldn't have said anything twice.
I'm tired of Nissan NA or any of the dealers taking such a bad rap here...some are bad, yes, but a class action lawsuit? Are you kidding me? I'm sorry, but they definately do NOT deserve that.

In my opinion....this is the poorest quality car I have owned. I have window streaks, feathering, gas hatch problems, several rattles, a loose seat, premature leather wear, cup holder malfunctioned from day one, BOSE sucked, start-up issues and many, many more things. I purchased a 2000 Mitsu Eclipse when they first came out and I had one problem.... a bad fog light. This suit is warranted. I love my Z, but I really didn't expect this much hassle with a first year vehicle.
On a side note...my friends Z's driver's door got stuck. He had to get in through the passenger door for 3 weeks before the parts came in. That is BS.
I really do love my Z and plan to keep it for it for life, but come on now.

Dude...maybe I got lucky, but my Mitsu was rock solid. It was the perfect car for me at the time. I took advantage of Mitsu's lucrative finance program of 0 down, 0 payments for year in Jan. 2000. I purchased a Mistubishi Eclipse GT (all options and it had 205 hp for the 2000 year compared to 200hp for the subsequent years excluding GTS) and the car was great. I was really surprised. I got it at $200 over invoice when they were first freaking coming out. I was so proud. Man...what a kid I was. It was a really smooth transaction. And again...only one problem. That was my first new car with my previous cars being a used 87 MR2 (awesome little ride) and a 93 Eclipse. I won't talk about the 84 'vette ... Chevette or the 87 Escort EXP. What I am saying is I totally love my Z. It is an awesome car...looks, performance, style, but the quality, for a Nissan, is surely questionable. I really thought that the "first year model plaque" was an urban legend. My car proved me wrong. Keep in mind most of the issues I mentioned in my last post have been cured....with the exception of feathering. If you have bad feathering, which I do, it becomes so frustrating. I recently changed wheels and tires and aligned to "factory spec.". I hope this lessens the problem. I will never knock the Z, but I will knock Nissan.

This car is finicky. That summs it up. Going onto 4th OEM problem now (power steering pump, windshield wipers, rear wheel "coin" noise, tire feathering) and no other car so far has had so many problems with less than 14K miles, in my experience.
If it runs good, its great. Once first problem appears, start saving up, coz there's more coming.
My first Nissan, too, so I'm getting burned on the company name. Seeing my problems and trips to the dealer has turned away at least 3 of my friends/colleagues from Nissans/Infinitis altogether. And that, my fellow Zers, is $$$ lost for Nissan. So, yes, they're already losing IMHO. And none of it is my doing, the car impresses them, then they see me gone to shop so many times, and that's it. It is simply scary, day to day, you have no idea what will fail next. I should start bets on that, could make some money back hehe .
Cheers.

I had a 97' GS-T Spyder. It was a great car but unlike yours my interior components were breaking all the time. One after the other. It had one hell of a nice paint job though (Black). I love my Z but it does have alot of quality issues as well. I know it is going to sound bad, but I just bought a 05' Sentra 1.8S for a winter car, and I actually drive it everywhere I go. The Z sits in the garage collecting dust. It is bad when I enjoy driving a Sentra over the Z. I'm thinking I'm about Z'ed out and I shouldn't be paying for a car to sit in a garage collecting dust.

I think Nissan has been cool about everything except for the paint issues. My paint job SUX and I have done everything possible to make it better with no luck. They need a class action suite on that not the tire fethering since they are now taking care of it.

I purchased an 05 knowing it had tire issues. I don't expect 20k from HP tires. If I have to swap them at 8k, so be it.
If I have problems that my dealer does not resolve to my satisfaction, I will refer to the owners manual and escalate accordingly. If this takes me to Lemon Law or other legal action, so be it.
I have owned numerous sports cars including 3 Zs. my first being a 260. Others were AR Alfetta, X1/9, Vette and none were perfect. The 350z has been the biggest joy to drive. The only "perfect" car I have owned was a Toyota Sienna van.
As for the class action. There is not doubt in my mind that it had an impact on NNA expanding the warranty.
