Default Insurance Coverage for Mods

I was talking with my friend at work and he brought up a good point. As of late, the mod bug has bitten me badly so I went on a shopping spree. (My current list of mods are in my signature.) I was told it would be a wise idea to report the mods to my insurance company so that in the event I get in a wreck, my car and the mods themselves would be covered. So I start checking my receipts and tallying up everything and I end up with $2850 in modifications so far (including mechanic installations, shipping, etc.)

I call my insurance company up and tell them I added "value" to my car by adding modifications to it. They asked if they were engine modifications and I said no, they are a little bit of everything (brakes, cosmetic, etc.). The lady told me to tell her how much it was and I gave her that number. She said it would increase my premium by $10 a month.

Should I not have included everything when I gave her that price? I know $10 a month more isn't really a lot of money, but I'm debating on what is necessary to cover and what isn't.

Anyone else give this a thought or have experience on this subject matter? Should I have only included performance mods?
