So the Insurance company is not stupid and know exactly what their doing for letting a 16y old driving a 287hp vehicle.
Of course your insurance company isn't stupid, if that was any sort of insinuation to my response. And those rates are not "that" cheap as well (being that you're not living in a highly populated area), and are most likely not with 100/300 coverages. Remember, area factors into the insurance policy as well. The closer you live to a major metropolitan area, the more rates can go up since there are increased chances of automotive incidents, theft rates may be higher, et al. Fact is, most people your age have to be under a parent's policy in order to obtain reasonable rates... I remember my first car was a Civic (125 stock HP)... my rates were similar to a bit higher than your's at your age b/c my coverages were higher plus I live in a major metro area (and I've never been pulled over at all, clean record).

Move to CA... you'll be VERY surprised/disappointed in insurance rates as opposed to those offered in your area. I'm sure someone that is 4 or more years older than you is getting substantially better rates as well

If you have a clean record, check out Wawanesa. They offer some of the most reasonable rates in CA. Get a quote:

I agree this is a pointless thread, doesnt matter how old you are most of us all have 350s so why dont we talk about the car instead of how old we are. Ill tell you "older" guys one thing making fun of us teenagers for having just as nice of a car of you or maybe mom and dad bought it is pretty childish dont you think?

I think this is funny that someone is impressed with themselves for buying a car that is "pretty expensive". You only need $25K to buy a base model brand new, and that's just above the average price of a new car. You can get a 03 Base model for under $20K. The 350Z is an inexpensive sports cars as far as they go. Look at some alternatives like the Vette, BMW, or MBs to name a few. Even the G35 costs more which is essentially a 350Z. Now I'm not saying the 350Z is a cheap car. The reason I own one is due to the value it represents for what it provides.

Oh no, not directed at you. I mean in general. You could say whatever you want. My earlier post I said I was 15 with a hardship. I am alot older than that.

I'm surprised your mom and dad would let you. My son is pretty trustworthy, but I still wouldn't let him spend his own money on a Z. I think a little maturity has to go along with it. While I commend you for saving enough money to buy a very nice first car, I think that money would be better spent on your upcoming college expenses or a first home.

None of these 16, 17, 18 year-old kids should own Z's. The stupidity of some parents and some kids boggles my mind sometimes.

daytona350z (one of the original members of this board) bought his Z at 16 with his own money, and he is way more responsible then most of the other Z owners on the board, especially me

my parents let me buy a car id make payments on hoping it would teach me a lesson, had them worried for the first couple months, but i shaped up, now im a miser that wont move out because it costs money.
