I had it set at 4200 when I bought it a couple months ago. Kept lighting it up. Moved it to 5000. Don't light it as often, but still do. Might need to move it again...
Set it around 3500 when I bought it new for break in back in '07, don't think I've touched it since. Really have no idea where it is now, can't see it anyway. I just shift after the open dumps on my wastegates are screaming for mercy...
Shifting a 2000 rpms. Your luggin the motor pretty good. It's better if you let it rev a little. These motors run forever anyways it's not gonna hurt it

This back and forth is not important to me, but since I'm retired, I got planty of time. Abviously you don't have 4:08 gears. If you did, you would know that shifting at 2k to 2.4k is just fine.
This is for you & the guy above your post.
When you shift at 4,200 rpm for 10,000 miles, the engine gets the same (apx) wear of me driving 20,000 miles at 2,100 rpm. Get it????
The reason most young guys rev their engine is because the want to hear their exhaust. In the rest of the world, normal driving is done like I do it.

Ok so on the freeway you tach like what 3500 at 70? There's a bit more wear there. These motors run forever you don't have to baby the crap outta them if properly maintained.
It means when I want to go fast/get on it, I shift at 7,600 rpm. The rest of the time, normal driving, I like to baby the car/engine. Is that hard to understand? Plus I never even use a light. Light is for kids.

Do you know what reving at 4,000 rpm mean?
RPM mean?
At 100k miles, your car will have apx. the same wear as my car at 200k. Maintainace has nothing to do with this fact.

What's up with all of these conservative RPM numbers? Drive the dang car. Mine is at 6600.. Had it set to 3300 for the break in on my JWT, moved it RIGHT back up after 700 miles.
Set to 7400. When I drag as soon as I see that light its time to shift. Normal driving I shift between 3k and 4k. Imo 2.5k is to slow. Everyone starts to pass me. But then again i have stock gears and first gear seems pretty useless
