I never really thought about it. I'm pretty sure I move my whole foot.
Now if I could just learn to brake using my whole foot instead of pivoting, I might actually be able to accomplish heel-toe-shifting.

What a bizarre question. I have been driving a stick since 1964 when I got my license. I have no idea which way I shift. I will have to see on the way to work.

I use the whole foot/leg.
This habit evolved from racing my Talon. It has a 2600lb clutch disk that requires like 40lbf to depress.
To handle this clutch with any consistancy and "comfort" you have to use your whole leg and not just your calf muscle from pivoting you ankle.
The clutch on the 350Z is super soft compared to my other car, however, a habit is a habit and I wouldn't want to develop different styles for the two cars.

clutch clutch
I have been driving stick on and off for an age... dont ask
I clutch the Z with my toes with pivot from the heel / ankle.. works great for smooth transfer of power. If I get on it heavy I will use my whole leg for more control. To each his / her own...
