Default clutch foot position

do you guys keep your heel on the floor when feathering the clutch, or do you lift your whole foot

which way is correct?

i started with whole foot, and i realized how hard it was to launch.

then i put heel to the floor and pivoted... awkward at first for me, but now im hooked.

I never really thought about it. I'm pretty sure I move my whole foot.

Now if I could just learn to brake using my whole foot instead of pivoting, I might actually be able to accomplish heel-toe-shifting.

I'm still trying to sort that out myself... my father says pivoting your ankle prevents your leg from getting tired, but using my whole foot seems to be smoother-

What a bizarre question. I have been driving a stick since 1964 when I got my license. I have no idea which way I shift. I will have to see on the way to work.

I use the whole foot/leg.

This habit evolved from racing my Talon. It has a 2600lb clutch disk that requires like 40lbf to depress.

To handle this clutch with any consistancy and "comfort" you have to use your whole leg and not just your calf muscle from pivoting you ankle.

The clutch on the 350Z is super soft compared to my other car, however, a habit is a habit and I wouldn't want to develop different styles for the two cars.

After careful evaluation I use the whole foot. I find it impossible (for me) to pivot the heel.

Interesting... even with my ACT XTSS in my Honda, I still pivoted even though it was by far the stiffest pressure plate that I've ever seen.

Default clutch clutch

I have been driving stick on and off for an age... dont ask

I clutch the Z with my toes with pivot from the heel / ankle.. works great for smooth transfer of power. If I get on it heavy I will use my whole leg for more control. To each his / her own...
