Hey whats up guys I have a little problem. Well here it is a have an 03 and lately when reversing and then hitting the breaks theres a lunk or thump noise also when driving hard and shifting from 1st to 2nd the gears grind sick but I make sure the clutch is all the way in. Under normal driving nothing happens except sometimes I shift to 2nd and it does a little scratching noise. The problem is I have 40,000 miles will warranty cover it. If I recall right powertrain is covered till 60,000 miles right?

What could it be I'm thinking it's my tranny I'm almost definetly sure.

Yup. From all the tranny threads I've read, it sounds like you'll need a new tranny. Not sure about the warranty but it's definitely something you should have Nissan fix.

How many miles is the powertrain warranty?

 

This sounds kinda like what I have. When I back out of my driveway and go from reverse to neutral I hear a "thump" sound. Is that what you hear?

 

BTW...I was talking about the shifting noise & not the thumping noise.

so why do my gears grind when shifting from 1st to 2nd at redline but not when I'm driving normally. I make sure the clutch is all the way in and it still grinds.

 

the warranty should cover up to 60,000. I had the same problem and took it back to get it fix. They put in 2 new tranny with in a month and it's driving me crazy. I am still having problems with my tranny and thinking to go with the lemon law and now talking to nissan now to see what they are going to do. By the way my car is an 04 and only with 9,300 miles on it.

Good...I hear it every time I back up. Bugs the hell outta me thinking something is broken!

 

Ok then maybe I don't need a new tranny so how do you adjust the clutch?
