Yes.... Its the new M3 and the driver is one of the best in Japan "Keiichi Tsuchiya".
The M3 from a stop you can see that catch up with the Z, but in the coners and top end streigth line (80+) the M3 can't catch it, the Japanesse said is for the weight of the M3, and for the TQ and respons of the Z exiting the coners, they speak so well of the M3 but always said that the Z have a terrific TQ when exiting the coners.
The Z with the S2K is viceversa the S2000 have more conering of the Z but don't mach it in streight line, is from the same reason, the Z is more heavier than the S2K, but the Z have more HP and TQ.
The point is you have to see it to believe it!

It's a tight track, about a one minute 5 second lap time. The Z beat the other cars by several car lengths after a few laps, but the S2000 and M3 set a faster best lap.
Why the M3 wasn't faster, I don't know, but on this track it appeared the 3 cars were remarkably equal. I suspect on a faster track, the M3 would have taken the Z.
Oh yeah, the track was damp so that throws a wrench into everything. . .

The M3 is in most of the battles in most of the videos. I don't recall it ever finishing first!

You guys need to get your facts straight. The drivers for Best Motoring are outstanding. They were all at one time professional racers, F3000, Touring car, Cart, and some have taken podium finishes at Le Mans. If you actually watch the videos and see the amount of car control they have, it should be clear that these aren't just some magazine hack driver for the daily newspaper! Check the link for more details...

as long as all the drivers have a close to equal skill set that complements each car then that is all theat is needed to see what the performance of one car is over another.

Tell us more please....
In the preview it looked like the Z was demonstrating understeer ? maybe that was because it was being pushed so hard?
And how can the other cars have the fastest laps and not be considered faster than the Z?
Averaging in slow laps when determing which car is the fastest makes no sense to me.
loving my Z.

That is a good Question, in my opinion the difference between them is minimal, and the fact that the Z was firts to cross the finish line is enough to say that is the fastest.

I dont know about that but maybe another "Forum Friend" can help you with that!
This was my opinon I no expert about "Track Racing" I know about "Street Racing".

Wasn't the Z designed as a affordable track car from ground up?
M3 to me is a sporty sedan. However I am curious how the R34 do? I would think it would outrun most the other cars?

There were some posts about this video a while ago, with the lap times of each car noted. The R34 blew everything away, and wasn't counted in the final results since it was so far ahead. The rest of the cars were close (with the exception of the TT) and while some of the others had faster single laps than the Z, it was the Z that was consistently fast and that crossed the finish line first (after the GT-R). If you were counting a time trial, where only the fasted lap is important, then the Z wouldn't have won. But it looks like the Z was easier to drive constitently than the others, so it was able to take the win for that reason.

The Lord Almighty himself would have difficulty posting consistent
low times with the S2000 in the wet. Beyond 5/10th's, it's like
rolling skating down Pike's Peak. Such is the case with the stock tires which primarily are dry surface gumballs. To be even CLOSE
to the single lap low time is an achievement to the Honda driver.
